I was taking a walk in the forest park today when I saw something moving. I looked down and saw this little guy. And when I say little I mean he was tiny. He was smaller than my little finger (not taking into account the length of his tail).

I stood and looked at him for about twenty minutes. I would have stayed longer except a man came walking along on the path. I held out my hand to guide the mouse away so he wouldn't get walked on. He then ran into the woods and I didn't see him again. Still, it was nice while it lasted. I was actually a little worried about how the mouse didn't seem overly cautious. I'll choose to be happy about spending some time with my new furry friend though. :)

He was nice. :) Here's another photo of him. It looks like the one I already posted but it was taken a couple of seconds later and is slightly more in focus.

It's hard to picture that he is only the size of your little finger, he looks much bigger in the photos.

I zoomed in on him as much as I could. I have a fairly good camera so the pictures still came out fairly clear. :)

I came across this little guy a couple of week back while out walking the dogs. Anybody know what it is? Sorry about the poor pics I only had the camera phone on me.

Was that fresh water? Is there any chance it could have been a baby otter? It looks long in the body in that pic, but its not clear enough to me to tell properly.

there would be fresh water and a small forestry plantation near by...that was on the farm road. We are about 20 miles from any saltwater.

It was about 3 inches long, transparent-ish head with the head and two huge eyes. Did not appear to have any legs - I just thought it was a big bug of some sort. I came back along the track about 30mins later but it had disappeared.

    Its a bizarre little yoke.

If it had no legs its no otter!

It's hard make it out but is it an elephant hawk moth caterpillar? Could have swore I saw one posted in a thread on the nature forum but can't find it.

    Here's a pic.
