    Hi Guys,
How much do you have to earn, or how much tax do you have to pay to claim rent relief?
    Thank you!

As it's title suggests, it's a tax relief. So in effect, you would be chargeable to tax on 1600 less of your income for the year. If you don't currently pay tax, you don't require the relief.

For last year, the relief was based on 2000. Relief is granted at the standard rate of 20%. So if your claim was for last year - 2000 @ 20% = €400.00 worth of a refund due ( as long as you've paid that amount in tax in the first place )

Also, keep in mind, the relief is not due if your tenancy commenced after 08/12/2010.
