UPC affecting Sky Digital signal

    Hi,

Just looking for a bit of help, I have UPC phone, broadband and digital tv (in 1 bedroom) while I have Sky Digital in my front room and another bedroom. Every so often I notice that the signal on my Channel 4, E4, More 4 and certain music stations such as The Box and Smash Hits becomes scrambled and therefore it's impossible to watch these channels. I watch a lot of Channel 4 so this particularly annoys me, especially when I sit down to watch something I've recorded and it's completely unwatchable. Anyway this problem only seems to happen downstairs and right next to my telly is the UPC box, the other sky box in the bedroom has no problems whatsoever. If I plug out the phone or UPC box altogether then the signal either goes back to normal straight away or after a few hours or so. At this point I'm considering getting rid of UPC as I find it an appalling service but it does seems to be the cheapest and when it does work it's fine. Can anyone tell me what's happening and how to fix it? Neither UPC or Sky seem to want to help me?

    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    Thanks in advance,
    Jen

this isnt a upc problem. this is a cordless phone problem.
it happened in my house as well, just move your phone away from the box if its by it. even moving it about a meter should do the trick.

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly. Tried what you suggested and it seemed to work for a week and now I'm back to the same problem. I had a feeling it was the phone that was the problem, just wasn't sure what. It now sits about a metre and a half away from the sky box and that's as far as I managed to stretch it. I just can't understand how to stop this. Even if i unplug the phone and UPC box the interference continues. I'm just not sure how to get this problem to stop, even just temporarily. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to why this is occurring at the times that it does or as often or not as often as it does.

    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks!

Next door neighbour might have similar phone/router set up and it could be causing interference also.
