The Californian Bar

I've been looking into sitting the Californian bar. I have a non law degree but have a law masters, unfortunately neither of these qualifications are accredited by a us college which means I don't qualify to sit the NY or Chicago bar. (right??) I've heard that qualified solicitors can sit the Californian bar without having the accredited degree/masters, is this true? If so are you a full attorney or only able to practice Irish law in California i.e be an adviser to an American firm operating in Ireland.

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated!!!

I had a little look into this a while ago so im open to correction but in order to sit the Cali Bar exam you have to be a qualified lawyer over here so a qualified Solicitor or Barrister.

Then if you pass the Californian Bar you are entitled to practice as a full lawyer over there, not just an adviser.

Sorry dats_right, could you explain that a bit better? Why, if I was a qualified lawyer in Ireland, would I need to sit the QLTT? As far as I was aware, once you are a qualified lawyer over here, you just pass the Cali Bar exam and thats it, I dont understand where the QLTT comes into it??

My apologies, indeed you are right of course. I had misread your original post.
