    Interestingly, they had all moved in unison around the corner of the wall to a more sheltered part yesterday.

    I noticed that when blown by wind some of them would manage to free themselves and hang on the wind by what appeard to be a web thread. Looked like they used that method to transport themselves from the wall to a feeding place.

    Do keep an eye on them. I reckon they are moth caterpillars (as you've said), but I don't know which species.
