When to pay taxes/declare earnings?

Hi

I'm a bit confused about this one - I am a regular prsi worker, but I have recently begun doing some work outside of this, with the view to hopefully doing it as my full source of income, assuming all goes well.

Anyway the question I have is at what point do I need to declare this income - or when do I pay the taxes. I've been advised that I don't need to do this until October of next year - so in other words anything I make in 2011 outside of my regular job I declare in october of 2012.

Is that right or is it october 2011 I'd be declaring this?
