Hi, i have the above router and its about 5 years old and has started dropping out a bit lately, so i think i need to replace it. My galaxy s2 and my wife's xperia just refuse to work with the wifi no matter what i try. Apart from that its been a pretty good router.

Could anyone recommend a good router under €100, to replace this, that works with well with media streaming, android phones, xboxes and ps3's and of course laptops?

Sad to see those things go obsolete. So reliable.

Personally I have yet to use another router with the same track record. All my N routers have dropped a connection at some point or another. Very annoying. Maybe you could try a Netgear N600 or Linksys E2000 or similar?

Buy another wrt54G on adverts / ebay ? :pac:

you could try and upgrade the firmware on the old one to ddwrt to see if that sorts out the wifi problem first http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G/GL/GS/GX

have a look on the interweb about known problems with them, generally this means popping off the cover and looking for blown caps or replacing the power supply

Yeah - agree with @Capt'n Midnight

    Try flashing DD-WRT firmware.

If that doesnt work, then look for a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54.

I have several of these with DD-WRT firmware and they are bulletproof (and they are cheap - about €75).

I used to have problems with my WRT54GS, flashing it to dd-wrt fixed it, its been great since.

Only problem is now with increasing speeds at home its starting to become a bottle neck.. :(
