    Hi folks

With a baby on the way, I thought I'd have a go at building a "Moses" like basket out of timber

I'm not a carpenter though I have done a little bit in the past.
Anyway the only thing I'd worry about is the health/safety aspect - Aside from the prospect of it falling apart, are there any special considerations, e.g. for a baby's developing back/spine or possibility of banging his/her head, etc. ?

A moses basket - or crib - will only suit a baby for a few months, then you have to find somewhere to store it for ever and a day, or until the next one. And by that time it will be so sad looking having been stored that you won't want to use it...
