What is a sprocket gear? I think you mean you have 3 gears on the front and 6 at the back, your driven gear will be the ones at the front.

What shifters do you have? DO you drive a car? the gears work on the same principle. The only thing to avoid is chain crossing, Dont be in 1 at the front and 5 or 6 at the back, or be on 3 at the front and 1 or 2 on the back.
