Is there such a thing as a rehab for depressives in Ireland?

I suffer from depression and I really could do with some time out. I don't need to be in hospital as im not a danger to myself.

I was looking at st pats and they do good classes and things but they are for in patients. I dont have much money either...

    Anybody know of any places?

    Thanks

Forget St Pats unless you have good insurance. Talk to your GP as a first step.

It depends on what you want. You don't always have to be a danger to yourself to get admitted to a hospital, it can happen if you're not coping and showing no signs of improvement. There, you'd get treatment and stuff.

Or you could talk to your GP/Psychiatrist about medication, therapy and such if you haven't started a treatment plan yet.

And if you're not intending to get any treatment and just want a break, I'd suggest a holiday.

Your GP is probably the best person to advise you.

Just been out of the other end of the tunnel. First stop is your GP if they are any good they will refer you on to a psychiatrist. Counseling, Therapy , occupational therapy and medication are all wonderful once you work at them.

Avoid like the plague, alternative medicine, juju men and faith healers. I know a person who shunned convention medicine and found every other juju man going she is now homeless. The more you work with these people the faster you will find a solution.

If you are really panned out a week or twos break is exactly what you need.
The hardest part is admitting you have a problem and you need professional help. Hope this helps and the faster you get help the faster you will be on the right road.

    OP here,

    thanks for the replies folks.

I do see a GP and a psychiatrist and i have a counsellor and i take meds! I just feel like id like to go to a place for a couple of weeks where they do intensive therapy for example, where i could just focus on myself. Lifeis getting on top of me and im not making much progress. i have discussed this with the professionals. What i'm looking for maybe doesnt exist.

You know how you hear of celebrities going to the Proiry for depression...i'm no celebrity but thats where i got the idea.

    Thanks

This is a place that mainly deals with addicitons but also takes people with depression. Its a 3 week thing and a bargain at €16,500 for the 3 weeks. And no, that's not a typo.

Have you thought about maybe booking yourself in for a spa treatment for a weekend?

Perhaps you could find a cheap(ish) deal somewhere. not sure if this is the thing you are looking for, but a weekend of pampering might be a bit of a tonic for you, and something to look forward to, which in itself , might give you a bit of a boost.
