    Ha ha very good:D
Last meeting 13th May, no update.
Suppose we'll have to watch this space for longer. Wonder are they planning on being a bit of competition for the NARGC?

Sounds a bit like it alright Dusty, being in competition with the NARGC is a tricky business unless you have a better solicitor or solicitors as they just seem to be focused on the courts these day's.

well if there on the hunting mans side all we can do is give them a chance because there is a enough of other people against us

I think there linked to the Peoples Front of Judea:D:D and not the Judeans People front.:D.

The biggest problem the NARGC have is that there are still very closed minded People running clubs that won't open their doors to new members, this is doing untold damage. I'll say it again let the People join your clubs...:)

i find it weird why they all have to have long names like Irish Association for Game Hunting & Conservation :D why not Irish Game? LOL havent a clue could be that crowd running around the country trying to get land recently

They are a new organisation set up in the last couple of weeks, the official launch will be at the Ballinlough as far as I can remember. Not really in comp against the NARGC as they will not be providing insurance cover like the IFA or CA, nor will they have a compensation fund like the NARGC.
What the will be setting out to do is provide an association for shooting folks that will help in advice on any aspect regarding shooting/hunting. They have already run a day in south tip on general safety and game rearing.Membership will be €5 and when it gets up and running should be worth it. They have got the backing of both the IFA Countryside and CA in setting up.

Isn't that the crowd in South Tipp who 'left' the NARGC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭homerhop

South Tipp and Kildare, and already people joining from other counties

 So it is a break-away from NARGC thing then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭homerhop

No, the NARGC only represents clubs associated to them, when this gets off the ground it represents both individuals and clubs. Members on the committee are from other counties not just Kildare and Tipp, you know some of those involved in setting it up Bunny

I do know some of them and I know why they had to do it and I agree with some of their ideas and more I have to question and in time if this gets off the ground and it's a better alternative to what already exists then I'd be one of the first to apply for membership ;)

There are a lot of things in being sorted not sure what is coming online first, I know some of the ideas being discusses was getting the involvemnt of some vets who will be able to give advise and perhaps a discount scheme, game rearing seminars, safety courses stuff like that Bunny that will be there to help our sport . Sorry if the info is a bit sparse as I also have to wait for the official launch to see what is coming up

There was a parting of ways between some lads in South Tipp & Kildare from the NARGC a few years ago. There was a lot of bad feeling left behind :(

Ya I get an od hint to that effect every now and then. I won't say from who but it is not the same for everyone in south tip. It depends on who you are talking to.

Its a pity differences cant be sorted......

I am involved in NARGC clubs for years and in the main the Association at National and Regionallevel are very good and you get good backing and help when needed, in any organisation there will always be a few individuals that you'll not see eye to eye with. Even at National level the NARGC are screaming let people join your clubs or watch your clubs die out slowly.

I hope this works out for the lads, the more of these type of organisations there are in "Judea" the better for us and the worse for the antis. I'll drop in a fiver, buy a badge and have a chat if your at Birr this year.:)

I'm in 2 NARGC clubs in South Tipp and both accept new members quite freely but I can understand why some clubs would be reluctant to accept new members. Lots of people have joined my clubs for one year and get licences and are never seen again, lads shooting the ****e out of an area and the local landowner asks them are they in the gun club and next thing they wanna join after shooting the ****e out of an area/s for years and never helped stock it.................I could go on but lots of you know where I'm coming from ;)

Just to pass on a bit of info. - there's a meeting of the IAGHC tonite in Portlaoise - look at their website (www.iaghc.ie) - go along and find out for yourselves - it says "all welcome" !

The NARGC point of view is simple, people who live in a locality and want to join the NARGC should be allowed to join the local club. Given that they're suitable caracters to roam about with a shotgun or rifle of course.

mabey the nargc should have a chat with the clubs, because of the 20 or so clubs i know they will not not let anyone join, i've had guns 0ver 30 years now and was never in any trouble but would not be welcome in any club in north tipp apart from mabey 1 of the 15 clubs around me, living 5 years in this town now i am not welcome in the club, i dont need the clubs but young lads often tell me no one will tell them even who to ask about the clubs, they told me there was no club where iam and a club up and running for the last 20 years, its a about money, nobody cares as long as the money stays coming in...

AFAIK NARGC have no say how an individaul NARGC club is run.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 128 ✭✭staghunter

if there are a group of lads from a townland in the area the gun club's are using theres nothing to stop them setting up there own gun club.if they can get enough names together an approach there regional association what law is there to say they cant set up there own club.if this were to happen the bigger clubs mighten be so reluctant to allow new members to join.and as far as i no you must have good reason not to allow anyone to join a gun club you cant just say no

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,096 ✭✭✭bunny shooter

NARGC will consult all other NARGC clubs in the area and afaik they would have to agree to the 'new' club being accepted by NARGC, which is unlikely to happen :)

Now if the 'new' club were to get a group insurance with IFA Countryside, that would be a different matter ;)

theres a solution for all them lads, there isn't much a gun club can do if they don't own the shooting rites or have the ground leased.i no theres a lot of dodgy characters out there but its a shame alot of decent lads can't get into clubs.thank god we have no problems like that around here.
