Just don't the men of the world!! you can never win..

My latest experience was being told a specific make/type of jean (all I could see were dark blue jeans with yellow threads & silver stars & stuff on the back in a specific shop). It was a B'day presnt so I thought to my self this should be a easy thing to do.

Went to the shop, I know she has a waist size 2 below mine, so I went in looking for a pair of jeans with 30inch waist (yes that is how blokes shop, 1 rail with our size, we just go for it, ignore the rest). Anyway next thing I was looking at these womens jeans with the Size 8/10/12 etc.. Did you ever look confused & bewildered in a shop wondering what the heck is going on? Well that was me. So being a sensible lad not wanting to concede, I chase up an attendent, thought he might have Exp in this), unfortunately it was a man about 15yrs older(mistake no. 2). Told him my problem. He said back straight given the waist size, it would compare to a size 14 in her. So that is what I went for because of my pure ignorance, yet it is all my fault & more..

All I can say is my morning was hell, You Women can see why I did not got a thumbs up this morning. I have not extactly asked her size yet, but (believe me it is less than 18 & I will never do this again!!

So my advice is that just give her the money for shopping & then fix a nice meal for later. Don't think ever the twain will meet on the shopping thing.

Remember I was once sitting around 3 hours in the Blanch Centre while she(different one) was trying on stuff in one of the Dept Stores... She came out with nothing, I offered to buy if she wanted, she said no & she was looking at different ideas, nothing else..I remember, the one purchase while waiting, during this time (in the centre) I made was an old pc game I used to play, got bored in a couple of days

Buying womens clothes is like having to 'choose' between drowning or burning.

Just buy everything too small for her and you'll win.

I know I used to live by this: only jewelery, Fashion accessories (handbags, shoes, bangles etc) but I thought I had specific instructions enough to do this & this is what she wanted. It was just a stupid regime that women don't buy clothes by waist size!

Well, end story is I'm going down the shop now in 10mins to get a 'posh' ice cream treat! And she liked the dinner!

Thats why you get a female friend or a sister to come with you! Simples!

I knew a guy that bought his girlfried pyjamas in size 18 because that's what age she was

oh crap, now i feel a bit all "gok wanny", no i've never actually gone on my own to buy my wife clothes, but i've gone with her, and often times i'd have to ask her to think twice about a top, or jeans, or a dress, basically she has a great figure but really she goes for "comfort and practicality", over style, which in my opinion is just doing herself an injustice, so when i would pick out something, she'll usually disagree, (hates to admit i might have a point), but then later on when she's wearing it, she might be out with her friends for a few drinks and she'll comment on how her friends seem to make no effort to look well.

i just bite my tongue! :o

Most men should steer clear of buying your other half clothes...believe me it will be money well wasted ;)

Why didnt you check the size of a pair of jeans she had already?

Doesn't always work. I got my ex bird a crotchless wonderwoman unfit and told her how I used to beat off to her saturday mornings. She wasn't that impressed with me.

Don't get the difficulty here - go to wardrobe or knicker drawer, check size, buy in same size and the job's a good 'un. There will be different syles and sizes required for different circumstances, but men need not overreach themselves by being concerned with those.

I used to work in a clothes shop. One day a man came up to me carrying two dresses and asked "Will these fit my sisters?".

I replied that, as I don't know his sisters, I really couldn't say... He then told me "Well, they're aged fourteen and sixteen, and one is skinnier than the other". He couldn't understand why I didn't know...

Ah yes, but the sizes vary with brand too :P

And then there's the possible confusion in that we have 3 different size charts in this country (top three in this), just get a female friend to help.

Her ass looks big in those... no matter what those are :(

The best bet is to pick the smaller size and if it doesnt fit she can change it :)

To be honest you don't buy a girl clothes unless you're with her or you've seen her try it on, I'm a girl, there's not a hope in hell my girlfriends getting clothes for any occasion that she hasn't picked herself, its suicide.

I have managed to avoid these pitfalls quite well. For 20 odd years I have managed to buy clothes of all kinds for the women in my life and never get it wrong. I peaked by being sent out on the morning of a wedding to buy a dress for the OH when she had other things to do. I not only managed it, I brought back shoes and a handbag to match. I am that good a BF

    So predictable.

I grew up with lots of sisters and have lived with a few women, noticing things they do and wear is not rocket science. I'd expect my OH to be able to go out and buy me a shirt and get it right.

Girls are far better at buying guys clothes than guys are at buying girls clothes.

Because being a bloke, I thought I knew with the right product, style, store & waist size it would be a shoe in.. I don't check my partners clothes sizes... C'est la vie! The meal & ice cream went down well, now we just started watching a movie she likes so I am just here logging off but just had to reply to that!
