Iv come across a new site which focusses purely on good news. Ie, happy, uplifting news, basically the opposite of every other
    news source out there.

    It's called www.goodnewstimes.ie

My question is.... can a site report the news, leaving out the sensational/some might call, depressing news, and still report what's going on out there!?

    I'm not sure...

its up to news agencies what they report or what they cover though. different agencies focus on different types of story. just look at the difference between the daily mail and the indo for example. theres no rule about being balanced or filling a quota on stories like 20% happy stores, 10% pure human interest, 25% tragedy, 30% political.... etc etc

but - as for 'can they give an accurate picture of the state of the world without showing the less happy stuff?' no not really.... but this kinbd of site was probably designed for the people who are sick of reading dreary and depressing news - a different kind of target audience really
