I didn't really buy into heel Foley when he was with Edge. The crowd really didn't either. He doesn't generate a lot of hear because he's so likeable. I would also dispute whether Miz even needs an assistant.

Its been so long since foley had a decent stint in wwe that the likelihood is that a lot of fans nowadays wont know who he is.
I would rather a bitter old hack of a heel foley as opposed to a bubbling smiling face foley.

If he plans on coming back and doing physical stuff then he really needs to lose some weight and get himself fit.Couldn't see him working well as Miz's assistant,I'd say that's Foley taking the piss more then anything else.

Would be cool to see another Foley/Taker Hell in a Cell match though, but I doubt either one of their body's could take it.

It would be cool to have him in the Rock/Cena storyline - he was missed at Rock's birthday Raw :(

It would be silly, Miz can talk for himself, in fact he is probably a better talker than Foley. Also Miz has the clean shaven pretty boy look and then Foley to be his assistant? They are polar opposites. Would be a terrible idea in my eyes.

Miz could bring Foley in specifically because of his differences. Think of it, say he loses some sort of match with Riley. Miz "snaps" and gets the King of Hardcore in to the WWE to take him to the next level. Opposites often work.

Yes Miz doesn't need somebody to talk for him, but he isn't even in Foley's league when it comes to promos.

This "spoiler" shouldn't be taken seriously.

A chap on twitter asked Foley:

@realMickFoley Maybe you could be The Miz's new personal assistant.

    and Foley answered:

    Good point @DHStom - I think @mikethemiz might need a new assistant..and I need a new job. Interesting, huh?

Shouldn't be taken seriously. Foley was just having a laugh it seems.

It would be great if Foley got in the best shape he can get into and had one last Wrestlemania match. I know the match with Edge was based around that idea, but pilfering a good story is allowed.

Cactus Jack v Undertaker....let them fight! Let them fight!

I don't see why Foley can't do for Miz what he did for Edge. But aligning them? Nah. Talk about chalk and cheese.

Not sure if he has been officially released by TNA yet but I wonder could Foley return to WWE on Raw tomorrow with it being held in Long Island where Foley's from?

Foley actually tweeted something not related to his ebay auctions?

Chalk and cheese might a good reason for aligning them.

Mick Foley addressed his departure from TNA in a blog. "I think it's always a good idea to try see problems from other people's points of view," Foley wrote. "I mentioned on Twitter a few days ago that I pushed hard for changes I thought would be beneficial to Impact, and as a result, was thought to be "difficult to work with." You know, after a few days of serious thinking, I can really see how that 'difficult' label could indeed apply to me.

"I was incredibly critical of the company on Jeff Katz's "Geek Week" last November, did an interview with the opposition to support my book, forgot to mention the company I worked for on several interviews, took part in a handful of interviews that I was asked politely not to by the company that employed me, and lastly, sent out a fairly immature and hurtful tweet comparing my Empty Arena match with the Rock in 1999 to Impact house shows - in terms of attendance. If not for Congessman Weiner's boner shot, my "empty arena" crack may have been the most ill-thought and costly tweet of the month.

"I also mentioned my 'request' to be released from my contract. Actually, it began as an a legitimate offer to Terry Taylor to help trim the Impact roster of some expensive fat. I had some genuine differences creatively with Impact, and honestly didn't think the company should have to continue to pay good money to someone who had lost faith ion the product. At the time, it seemed like a pretty fair offer.

"But at the point we agreed to forge ahead with me as the Network rep, I should have just shut up and done the best I could in the role, at least until the Destination X show was over - at which point my departure could have become an interesting part of the show. I regret that an initial offer made in the company's best interest became a request and maybe even a demand in my own self-interest - or at least what i thought was my own self-interest.. until I realized I didn't get to go to Universal or to the mailbox anymore." Powell's POV: Foley also noted that he's sorry for some of the things he's said or done that hurt Dixie Carter. It's an interesting read, but I'm still surprised that he and the company couldn't extend their relationship for a few weeks so that his character could have been written out properly. Foley seems to regret that, yet he doesn't fully explain what led him to making the "request/demand."

What? Miz is good, but Foley is/was one of the best talkers the business has ever seen.

Thats like saying Hogan is probably a better wrestler then Kurt Angle.

Stick Foley with someone who can't talk, he could be a good manager.

I've been a big Foley fan for years, but the past while has been wrecking my head, he has notions of himself being above where he is... He is a broken down stunt man who has good talk, thats it. Even that is becoming questionable as in his last few angles he has struggled to connect with the audience... Even his program with Flair is a example of this(In WWE). Maybe he was better in TNA but his last bit with WWE was disappointing. When he wrestles does he ever win anymore?

He can't even get motivated to lose a few pounds ffs. He even says that his best work was against Michaels: because he was at a decent weight.

Stick Foley back on commentary or as the Raw GM,just could not see Foley working out as a manager for some reason. No way in hell should he ever wrestle in WWE again though.

I wonder how much money he was on in TNA?I'd be fairly pissed if I was Dixie and was paying big money for a guy who's heart was never in TNA in the first place.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,289 ✭✭✭parker kent

I doubt Foley will want to commentate again given his dislike of Vince shouting in his ear. Manager or GM would be good. He was excellent in the Commissioner role. He really helped to get people over.

As for matches, I think he has 1 or 2 big matches left in him if they booked it sensibly.

The only way that would work is if after a few weeks Foley turned against Miz. I can't stand Miz and putting Foley alongside him is just wrong!

Foley also said he probably has one big match left in him and named The Miz as the person he’d want to wrestle against

If Foley comes back for a match, I hope they give him a short run of wins beforehand to give him back his mojo as Hardcore Legend and break the trend of returning to lose.

I'd love to see him in hard fought victories against the likes of Ziggler and Cody Rhodes.

Foley on about having another match in him is that part of his comedy routine. He's only able for hardcore matches and he hasn't had a good one since the Orton/Edge ones a few years back which wouldn't be very PG now. His match with Flair (yeah Naitch is well past it) was poor and no doubt edited like hell before tv.

I'm a huge Foley fan but I even have to admit his matches in TNA were awful.

The match against Flair was probably his best so thats saying a lot.

With the PG rating now as well I cant see thumbtacks and the likes being used so that would take away a lot if he was to have a match in WWE.

I would LOVE to see him in one more big match and I think a match against the Miz would be great but lads I seen him in the O2, Jesus it looked like he could barely walk, anytime he went down for the pin count it took him ages to get up and looked like he was limping aswell

Enough of the "One more match" thing.
Let Foley do exactly what Foley does best in this age, which is using his mouth. God knows its a dying art when they give the most speaking time on Raw to Johnny Ace!

As I say I'm a big Foley fan and that would be my preferred option - Bring him back as the new GM of Raw.

No way is The Miz a better talker then Mick Foley. Foley is one of the best mic workers in wrestling history, he's up there with the likes of Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Vince McMahon, Jim Cornette and Paul Haymen. The Miz is no where near that level. Not even CM Punk is.

As for Foley as Miz's assisstant. At the end of the day, the angle will end with a Foley/Miz match, and could help Miz reach top heights. I still don't see Miz as a full main eventer despite being a former world champion. But Mick Foley has a history of making wrestlers into full fledged main eventers so this could be beneficial to The Miz in a lot of ways.
