Hey guys, im planning on studying make up artistry this September. Ive researched all thats out there and Ive wittled it down to 2 courses to study i just dont know which one to pick! ; module 3 in La Make Up (lasts 8 weeks, intensive course, costs approx 2500 euro) or Senior College Dun Laoghaire diploma in theatrical and media make up artisitry ( lasts sep-may, no tutition fee just pay for exams ,uniform etc throughout). It looks as though the two cover the same ciriculum but just at a different pace-and cost. Im wondering has anyone out there studied either one and would recommend or opt for the other one ? Or does anyone know of any major differences between the two ? Or perhaps theres an even better make up course out there ive yet to come across!
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks guys.

Hi Madonnas, Just wondering which course you decided to go with in the end. I'm considering LA for the module 2 or maybe 3 course and would love to get any feedback on them.

My friend is one of the top makeup artists in Ireland, she recommends Dub Laogahire and she went there too :)

Hey, was looking for someone who is in or has done the course in Theatrical and Media make up in Senior College Dun Laoghaire, i have a few questions about the kit/uniform?

    1. what kit is usually used and where do you get it ?
    2. what is the uniform like and where do you get it ?
    3. what are the names of the books you use?

I know they give you all this info in September but im curious now :) thanks

I havnt done my course in dun laoghaire but i have heard its a very good course.
anyways i would build your own kit with different brands now during the summer , alot of colleges use art deco and fuschia make up kits. art deco is a ok brand but i think its to dear for what you get, and fuschia make up i would not even rate them iv had a few things from them and they are awful and i think some of the stuff is rebranded of stuff you can get on ebay half the price.

you can get tunics in michael guineys for 20euro.

also u get discounts from inglot , mac and a few other places when ur a make up student so get ur discount cards as soon as u get your conformation letter.

    enjoy the course :D

Around how much would all of these 'extras' cost for one of these courses? Sounds very appealing with no Tuition fees but it'd all add up!

    Hi there,
I'm looking for a make-up artist to come along to a party in a venue in Dun Laoghaire on the 18th October for a few hours from 7pm. It is a surprise party and we are having a goth theme so I thought it might really help the atmosphere if I can help people go a little all out on their make-up with dark eyeshadow and pale make-up. It would be great if anyone interested could drop me a line.
    Laura
