    Folks,

I've posted over on the nutrition forum also... I've decided to go down the primal route. But for a lot of reasons I've dropped the ball so to speak and I'm finding it very very hard to get back into the right frame of mind to get fit.

I have about 30 pounds to loose to be at a comfortable healthy size..I have joined a gym and I was going regularly until my hips gave out!!! Have been having physio and am much better now.

I was considering a consultation with a personal trainer.. Anyone have any words of wisdom...This is really really getting me down...Its like writers block (except its fitness block..) oh dear even my puns are weak....:(
    HELP PLEASE

I find when motivation is a problem, then 'leveraging' myself against failure often helps.

An example would be paying a friend 5 euros if I don't go the gym 3 times during the week/practice the guitar a certain amount of times a week etc.

You could do this for primal eating. Aim for a number of days a week clean primal and use some sort of leverage to motivate you to see it through. Adapt this as you go along.

Im a Personal Trainer and I can tell you the only thing standing in your way is procrastination. You've done it before and slipped, so you may feel it was'nt worth it in the end. What you have to think of is the effect it had on you before, and how good you felt having done it at the time. The Primal is a great diet and as stated above if it helps you get to your goal, taper it on and off till you get comfortable with it. Not ideal, but you will see results and its better than just going to hard and falling to the wayside. I have to tell alot of clients that patience is the key to realising their goals, and those that go too hard just diminish in strenght, spirit and appearance. Just hold tight to what you want to achieve, and know that it just takes the first push to create and rolling stone. Best of luck mate, stick tight and you'll do it ;)

You need to get aggressive with your workouts, be angry remember the slaggings that overweight people tend to get and all of the times that people said nasty things to you. This is how i get motivated still and put some loud music on the mp3 player, you need the music! Stay focused baby, it's all mental!

Speaking as someone that lost 20lbs last year and on the path to something similar again this year my take is:
    1. Whatever plan you decide on stick to it and do not not deviate. 100% adherance is ok 99%is exhausting

    2. It will be hard at times, suck it up dont whinge, just do it.

    3. Carbs are the demon spawn of satan himself..........or whatever hyperbole works for you!! :D

I get pleasure out of Kickboxing, it is a stress relief and a way to unleash the stress and anger. You might just want to find a sport that you njoy and that you will look forward to it during each week. I also find that a good diet and nutrition supplements helps give the body what it needs that food just cant give. :)
