Presuming you don't want to go too far and waste your escape on the travel, take a look at Tinakilly House, just outside Wicklow Town.

It's absolutely beautiful and the food is amazing, the grounds are lovely to walk around too.

The Radission in Dublin on the Stillorgan Dual carriageway? Sorry not from Dub and can't for the life of me remember the proper address, but it's a really beautiful hotel, the rooms are lovely and bar is fantastic, really luxurious and elegant. And for a 5 star hotel very reasonable...

Check out the Blue Book - lots of old hotels with loads of charm...

Hi, sorry for dragging this up again but I'm looking for a nice romantic hotel in Ireland for two nights in September to bring herself to. Kind of looking for somewhere near a nice town to head to for a few drinks, preferably a nice spa too. Also would need some nice restaurants. I know the blue book has been mentioned but I'm looking for ideas from boardsies. Thanks.

Just back from Harvey's Point in Donegal...it's on Lough Eske. Stunning setting and the hospitality from the staff, the grub spot on. The room we stayed in was like a mini apartment, I think the brochure said it was 850sq feet! We got a deal for 2 nights B&B & meal for €390.

Can't say enough about the place....all the people that worked at the hotel were very friendly, helpful, courteous etc. Would recommend it.

There is another hotel beside it, the Lough Eske. it's a castle I think. Didn't get a chance to visit but that looked fantastic as well.

Both places are about 3 miles from Donegal town. You wouldn't walk, have to drive or taxi.

    Dromoland Castle: http://www.dromoland.ie/

Very close to both Ennis and Limerick.
