So how many of you wear glasses or contacts everyday?

I used to have glasses that I had to wear watching tv etc but on Tuesday I picked up my new prescription glasses that I have to wear driving, reading, using the computer etc.

I'm shocked at the difference tbh. My new glasses are the business, the world is a less fuzzy place :D

Thou shalt always put a poll up whenever requesting what number of boardsies have/do/say/think something.

Also, yes, glasses. Although lens in one eye, glass in the other. So I should be using a monocle.

I have super perfect vision. Can see farther than most people and can read signs from a long way away :D

I don't have much else in my life to be proud of.

Glasses, to be worn during all the time, since I was 5.

Glasses since I was 9, needed them well before that. Was the same for my mum, unfortunately one of the few traits she passed down.

Short sighted so wear glasses/contacts all the time. I could manage without them but I feel uncomfortable being outside and not being able to see properly :p

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Glasses intermittently since I was 16, and permanently from about age-20 onwards. I'm 27 now.

Being wearing glasses all the time for the last few years, I'll probably consider laser surgery in a few years, but the though of it scares the sh1te outta me.

Another full-time glasses wearer, v.v. shortsighted, couldn't really negotiate through a day, even dossin' about the house, without them!

I used to only have to wear them for the board at school and stuff, but now I wear them full time.

Glasses/contacts for long distance. Don't really need them unless I'm driving but tend to wear the glasses most of the time anyway. Details are clearer with them on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,383 ✭✭✭emeraldstar

Contact lenses constantly. Actually I'd say my glasses must be at least five prescriptions old at this stage.

Which is basically all I do so I wear them constantly. I love my glasses.

were them just for reading and for seeing things

I started wearing glasses in my teens, found it very hard to adjust / remember to put them on. Originally they were for reading, computers etc., but it would be fair to say that I need them all the time now. I still forget to put them on though. I've gotten used to everything being all fuzzies =/

Don't wear glasses or contacts....so it just goes to show that **** does not impair your vision :pac:

Contacts for about 12 years. Wear glasses sometimes.

If anyone who wears glasses has never tried contact lenses, I recommend you try them, they are amazing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 833 ✭✭✭barbarians

Needed glasses since I was nine years old, now need to wear them all the time except for reading book/newspaper.

Wear contacts for nights out, sport or other things where the contacts just offer more freedom and wouldn't be getting in the way.

Will seriously consider laser eye surgery when I'm older (now 16) but the I'm happy with glasses and contacts for now.

Also, I'm -5.25 in both eyes. How do other boardsies match against that ? Better or worse ? :P

blind as a bat, -6.0 in both eyes and astygmatism, wear contacts whenever I need to but the bastard things are expensive (~€70 for 30 pairs)

still thinking of the laser eye thing

    glasses all the time..

Glasses all the time. I even dream clearer with them.

I used to take them off for about 2 years when I was at the gym running and rowing. But a friend pointed out I was smiling at all the auld wans and ignoring all the foxes so I started to wear them again.

Glasses all the time since I was 14. Needed them since I was 10 but the mother thought I was over-exaggerating :p

Tried contacts but ended up bruising my eye or something trying to get the feckin' things in and out, and will never have laser surgery. Good thing I look better with glasses than without.

 Only wear glasses when i'm driving, was thinking of getting contacts for playing football. How long do a pair last for?

Glasses since I was 10, need them all the time unless I want to view life as a blur of colour.

Just for driving, the cinema, watching the tv, that sort of thing. I didn't realise how blind I was until I got them!

Seems to be getting more and more common. Half of my class wear glasses to see the board.

Lasered about six years ago. Best money I've ever spent.

Started wearing glasses when I was 17. I've thought about laser eye surgery but I'm too afraid!

Needed glasses since about age 5, but never wore them due to being too self conscious. Went all the way through school not being able to read the blackboard. Actually, anything further than 1 foot away was blurry.

Started wearing glasses full time from about age 20.

But got LASIK a few years ago and now have perfect vision. Best money I've ever spent on myself, and the only 'enjoyable' medical experience of my life.

that's for daily disposable ones, Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism, normal ones can be a lot cheaper

I can wear them all day if I'm out and about but if I'm on a computer or watching tv they dry up quickly

2 minute procedure, no pain, no discomfort (well except cold eye drops). I'd recommend LASIK to anyone, and as per my post above, I found the procedure enjoyable (cool light show).

    70€ for 30 pairs ? :eek::eek:

I get 30 pairs for 35€ and there's a special offer of 90 pairs for 90€ in the Specsavers I go to.

Are yours specially designed or perscribed because 70€ for 30 pairs seems crazy.

I've been wearing glasses for about the last 15 years. I'm very short sighted, can only see clearly up to about 10cm without my glasses, so I need them pretty much all the time. Have wanted to try contacts for a while, apparently I look like Harry Potter with my glasses on... :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,076 ✭✭✭✭bnt

When I was about 10, I was a good boy at school, always sitting at the front of the class ... then the teacher sent me to the back so another naughty boy could go to the front. "Um ... Miss ..? I can't see the board ... " :o

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Glasses for me. Largely blind without them. Can't be arsed with contacts every day, only when I'm going out of a night.

I must say I get a different type of bloke hitting on me when I wear my glasses on a night out than I do when I wear my contacts. Maybe they counteract the impression given off by the blonde hair...

pretty much yeah, the astigmatism bit seems to double the price, I've tried cheaper ones but they are too uncomfortable to wear

I'm short-sighted but it's not too bad, can manage grand without glasses, tbh I just don't really like wearing them and I figure until I start bumping into things I'm grand without them. I do look at it this way, without glasses my sight is ok but with them it's HD...so it's better alright but ya can manage fine with normal quality.
