Whats the proper name of the celebration rifle firing drill that was done for Mary Robinson from the roof of the Áras after she became president? I can say it but not type it:(
I did it once in ctd-east but when you participate you have no clue how well it went or not. (ps. none of the instructors could spell it then either and it was deemed a very smartarse question to be asking, a little run ensued to be sure):eek::eek:

Thought someone would of posted it by now. Its called or as we were told to call it a "flu de joy". Obiviously thats not how you spell it but best I can do.
All on the guard line up in a single line. Then its a mexican wave of gunfire with the shots from one end to the the other.

I think r.t.e. may have covered it on the night. Can't be certain about that though.

Sounds like a nasty disease :D

    Feu de joie.

    French for 'Fire of joy'.
It's not the same as the 3 volley salute or the 21-gun salute (Which uses artillery).

    :D

I know an ex Irish army nco who landed up being interned ( he is northern irish) because of making the same comment re Prince Charles & a 21 gun salute. He sent his C.O a letter regretting he couldn't do his Christmas duty because he was spending time at her majesty's pleasure.
