He's one of the best things on radio. I can live with a few ems ands ams. If thats the only complaint ya have, he isn't doing a bad job.

I've heard that complaint about him on here numerous times but I really don't hear it. I'm sure it's there if you listen out for it, but it doesn't bother me in the least.

His show is far and away the best of it's kind that I've ever heard.

Moncrieff is one of the best things on Newstalk. Far better than Fionn Davenport who recently filled in for him. Davenport is so far up his own arse. Moncrieff is one of the most down to earth presenters on radio or TV at the moment.

    Harry,

I have to disagree with you there about Fionn Davenport.

I think he's one of the best presenters on Newstalk. But if it came to being up his own arse, Moncrieff has his moments as well.

Still, he is good enough to get away with it IMO.

Fair enough LostinBlanch. I saw Fionn Davenport on Anonymous when Grainne Seioge was going undercover and he came across to me as a bit aloof, although, granted he was trying to avoid Grainne dressed as a skanger :D

Listened in yesterday and his umming and ahhing was worse than usual, generally it borders on the postulating of someone who has too much to say and I think for this reason its accepted, but boy was it annoying and very distracting yesterday.
Sean is an intelligent and engaging host and interviewer but I cannot understand why he isnt coached to speak more slowly so as he can gather his thoughts, rather than filling the airwaves with eh eh eh while waiting for his brain to catch up with his mouth. Really enjoy his show aside from this.

Dara O'Brian is also an Um and Aah man.
Doesnt bother me in the slightest!

Its a great show and i listen nearly every day. But what i dont get is all the Americans on it, with stupid books about things or people no one has ever heard about. There are at least 3 Americans on every day.

Eh ah ah, not chew badge, ah ah eh

Where else do you hear these topics and these people?
Its one of the only shows that seems to do original research these days

I agree with the observation that there's a lot of Ooh-ing, Ahh-ing and Hmm-ing but it doesn't at all take away from the show. It's fantastically researched, produced and presented. I think Moncrief isn't only the best thing on Newstalk, I also think he's the best broadcaster the country has and he'd fit into any of the top radio or TV jobs in the country very well.

I agree that Fionn Davenport isn't as good when he stands in but I am a fan of his shows Culture Shock and and now Davenport after Dark (although I think they should drop the bedroom section). Davenport is perfect for those shows I think.

Mark Coleman is a bit rubbish though. :D

    . :D

Agree with what other stuff you said but whats your gripe with the bedroom section.
I will say that when your listening to that and someone else enters the room its pure awkward

I haven't listened to him in a long time, but I always thought he was superb. He's the least arrogant and opinionated presenter there is.

Pretty much the same issue as you but I tend to be in a car with either a relative or a work colleague or someone when it comes on. I do the old awkward station change rather than awkwardly listening in silence with the other person.

In all honestly I just find non-sex things more interesting when it comes to radio.
