This is on the accs website. It went up on 7th June.

For the attention of all Leinster C & C schools
    Redeployment Process:
Please note the following from the DES.

The redeployment process is now nearing completion.

The guidance below relates to post-primary schools in each of the counties of Leinster that have not already been contacted in relation to the filling of their teaching posts through redeployment. Further guidance will be issued when the redeployment process has concluded for the counties in other provinces.

"Post-primary schools in each of the counties of Leinster may now proceed to fill their remaining teaching vacancies in the normal manner.

Please note that as previously advised to all schools, permanent vacancies that arise after 31 May 2011 may be filled only on a fixed-term basis for the 2011/12 school year.

Please also note that the Department will be monitoring the filling of vacancies through the payroll process".

    Ciarán Flynn, General Secretary ACCS

So basically, now is the time to quite reasonably drop by the Principal's office I would have thought. I know that many of us are more inclined to wait for that call but I think it would be quite legitimate to ask.

I'm sure all our thoughts are with our colleagues outside of Leinster. Hopefully it won't be too long.

Even with that they are refusing to sanction any new full time post! That would suggest that we will have more redeployment next year??

Thanks a million for posting that Linguist.

I too picked up on the 'fixed term' bit. Does this mean proper 1 year contracts (i.e RPT, which is what I had last year) will not be happening? Can fixed term contracts be used for CID purposes?? I only ask because I thought it had to be 4 complete years. Terrible to be guessing every step of the way, isn't it? :(

Hi. CP and redeployment to one side; 4 years of consecutive employment in the one establishment where the employee has been continually signing a contract from year-to-year with their employer IS entitled to a Contract of Indefinite Duration after that 4 year period. Unfortunately at the moment it applies uniquely to the one (educational) establishment and is therefore not cross-sector, although I gather the unions are looking in to this. To the best if my knowledge, RPT contracts absolutely will be happening. They are after all the only alternative to the CID/permanent contracts.

Hi again. It's all pretty straightforward.

If you are on an RPT contract and there is work for you, you can now be re-employed. It's up to your principal to decide when to go through the motions. As I said, anyone would be quite entitled to knock on the door as of now. However, quite a few principals may be behind in their timetabling owing to the redeployment uncertainty so they may not have contracts ready for a while.

As regards permanent jobs and future redeployment that should not be a surprise to anyone who has read Croke Park. Permanent jobs have to be declared to redeployment first. Yes there will be a redeployment scheme next year and every year, but they should be much more modest than this year. Whenever and wherever a school closes will create a local problem obviously. Basically, the best outcome for most RPTs now would be to sit tight for a CID. It is pretty much the same thing and a pilot voluntary redeployment scheme for teachers who want to leave their current school and go elsewhere is due to be tried next year.

I think today's news is good news and we haven't had much of that lately. I can feel a glass of wine in front of the TV coming along when I've finished here.

Absolutely. It's great to hear positive news. This time of year is the toughest.

So all VECs got the go-ahead back in Apr/May (they usually sort their own panel) and from Tuesday all Community Schools/Colleges in Leinster are good to go, that leaves the Voluntary Secondary Schools (many of which are the religious orders, like mine). We're still waiting because they're looking to keep the redeployment to the same sector if at all possible (am I right?), so therefore the DES is keeping us at bay for a little while longer, I don't believe they can tell our authorities to fill vacancies or continue RPT contracts just yet...

Somebody's trying to stand between me and wine!:)

This notice applies to ALL post-primary schools in Leinster without exception. The process is complete and recruitment can recommence as normal. Incidentally, if you look at this morning's Irish Independent, you'll see a raft of job ads. Principals knew this was coming.

Can I have a drink now?!

Of course! and one for all of those RPT teachers. Enjoy

That's fantastic news for all in Leinster. Does anyone know when positive news like this will reach the West? Noticed none of the advertised jobs yesterday are in the west so I'm guessing it hasn't happened yet.
Also when it does happen and I'm keeping everything crossed it will be soon, where will the information be posted?
    Thanks
