Restaurant Amnesia "DEALS"

Now a real gripe i have is this

In 3 different restaurants i have encountered the same thing

    BILL BOARD OUTSIDE

    ************3 COURSE MEAL 15.00*******
    ************2 COURSE MEAL 10.00********
    ************4 COURSE MEAL 25.00*******

    Now

Number 1 The "DEAL" is never pointed out when you go in by the waiter... he doesnt seem to rememebr about it or that someone MIGHT be interested in availaing of it.

Number 2 The Deal is Discreetly placed right at the back of the god dam menu in a photo copied piece of paper. (usually)

    So my gripe

in 2 restaurants they BY MISTAKE billed us seperatly for all the food and forgot about the special deal that they promoted outside and their menu. As one does in a small family restaurant. So a bill that should be 35 euro was over 50. (What i ordered was in the deal)

In the other restaurant after the bill came as expected more then it should have been. I questioned the waiter, saying "but we had what was on the billboard outside for 25 euro" he says " OH but you didnt say it to me... your meant to say, your having the deal menu"
He redid the bill and apologised and told me to make it clear it was the special deal next time.

You know the way if you order from the leather bound menu it costs more..
Or do they think you havent copped the deal and they will milk you if possible i think so !

EH YEAH WHAT WE ORDERED IS FROM THE SET MENU BUT BECAUSE I DONT SAY ((((AND THATS THE OFFER )))) YOU CHARGE DOUBLE, anyone else experience this special forgetfullness:rolleyes:

When a waiter takes your order you will say I would like
    Item #1
    Item #2
    Item #3
Waiter says ok and writes it down on a pad. He then passes this to the cook. When calculating your bill he puts the items into the computer one by one hence why you were charged separately. If you specified that you would like the deal at the beginning then the waiter would probably have the order as
    Deal #1
    - Option #1
    - Option #2
    - Option #3

Why don't you ask for the deal beforehand or even when asking for the bill if you have already had problems?
Do you expect to get a perfect waiter every time who can recognise if you are getting a deal while also looking after other tables? A waiter who can point out that you are asking for items that would qualify for a deal is a waiter that goes above and beyond his responsibilities.

In my opinion you share equal blame for this

    Hi dermo,

Yes i have learned from this now...

I actually hold the page open with the deal on it and POINT to it.
and so far no problems .

It happens mainly because people are too embarassed to look for the deal menu or point out that they wanted it.

The simple lesson, as always as a consumer, is to make sure to look for it.

This is what I do as well, it's the easiest way to get your point across.

Sorry if I came across a bit harsh in my post above, didn't mean it to sound like that.

    I've the same,

Always say I'll have Menu X.

Makes things extra clear and sometimes the deal menus are only available at certain times of the day, which causes them to point out if it is only at certain times.
