As an other aside, does anyone else have an issue with dragging things into trash? It's like I need to move the mouse about 4 times the distance than normally while holding click? Maybe it's having a 27" display and magic mouse?

Perhaps. I had to increase the mouse tracking speed quite a bit from the default. I have a 24-inch display.

anyone's dropbox (not the new Apple yoke) not working as it used? I can't share from my macbook, I have to go through the Dropbox website instead. Just noticed it now is all.

DropBox is working fine for me. Make sure it's up to date.

I'm going to try a reinstall using the lion utilities partition and see if it clears some glitches. The next move is a clean install and if I do that I'm going to upgrade my mini's hard drive to 7200rpm and a 16mb buffer to hopefully speed things up more.

Doesn't Lion have the cog wheel? In Leopard I click on the "cog wheel" at the top of the finder window (I don't mean the desktop menu bar). The drop-down presents various options including "Move to Trash". Haven't used drag for years!

Or just right-click and choose 'move to trash'.:)

Indeed. I just thought it strange that the mouse behaviour changes when holding down click. Maybe it's deliberate? It never used to do that though and it's the same if I'm copying a photo or a doc by dragging too. Strange.

Carried out a clean install last night on my MacBook Pro and so far so good. No crashes (yet). I also enabled reboot if computer freezes in the power management settings. A new "feature" Apple have introduced. Maybe it was put in during development of the OS as it was hanging/freezing so much??

Have been running OSX Lion on my late 2008 Alu Macbook for a few days now, after upgrading from Snow Leopard. Haven't encountered any problems or bugs so far, not using Safari at all could be the reason for that. Really starting to like Launchpad and Mission control is good enough, although I kind of miss exposé. Also the new saving feature is really great imo. Just hope Google will update Chrome so it's possible to swipe between pages.

    exposé is still there.

I've found "App Exposé" in Lion but that only shows you the windows for your current application, doesn't show you all windows. I haven't been able to find old school Exposé.

It has been merged with Spaces under the name Mission Control.

If you change swipe between pages to '2 or 3 fingers' you'll get three swipe navigation back in Chrome.

    Hi

Just wondering, when you say "Swipe". is that on the trackpad for the mouse or am I to buy a seperate device ?

    Cheers

I have the 3 finger swipe alright. It would also be nice to have the same animation as Safari has, when you go back and forward between pages.:)

An extension will hopefully come along soon.

    ????

Deep thought you've been thinking too much. What other devices are ther ? Or perhaps not thinking enough - how does one swipe 3 fingers on a mouse ???
    Swiping refers to trackpad gestures.

Does anyone know if BetterTouchTool works with Lion?

Anyway, I had one more crash about 2 days ago (on the login screen again), so Flash wasn't the cause of my issue. I spent ages studying the logs and couldn't find anything. Afterwards I manually deleted the contents of the cache folders and haven't had any crashes since.

And after using Lion's new "natural scrolling" for several days I could never go back to the old way. The only reason the old way seems more natural to some is because they are using to manipulating the scrollbar. When you are using a trackpad or a Magic Mouse it makes perfect sense that your finger should move with the content.

    Just to note.

I had terrible problems with Lion. OS stalling, apps were freezing, finder was all over the place. But noticed when I had laptop on the road it was fine.

Turned out to be my Drobo in the office. They claim on their site that the latest firmware corrects any issues with Lion, but its not the case.

I've unplugged it, and everything seems to be working fine.

Pretty sure there's no problems with this and Lion, I've only had one crash since installing Lion and that was because of my Firewire 410 unit I think. Also the developer of this seems to push out updates nearly on a daily basis!

I just found a temp workaround for my loss of access to my network SMB shares in Lion.

But it requires 2 Mac's :o one with working access (Snow L) to your SMB Share ie. Media/NAS drive. With file sharing turned on both, your new OSX Lion machine can get access rights to the SMB Share via the other (needs to be kept powerd on) !

I am now able to access my Iomega Media Drive and enjoying the wonders of PLEX (can't believe it was free )on my new Mac Mini !

I hope a solution for loss of the old SMB access is available soon by NAS and Media vendors.

My iTunes seemed to drop AirPlay and home sharing at random due to some bonjour conflict somewhere. I have since done a fresh install on a new hard drive, migrated everything back using TM and now it works fine. It did ask me to install a new iTunes though. I would advise a clean install to anyone who can be bothered.

I see Apple are now give the USB Key version of Lion for free to users who are stuck with upgrade issues .
    http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2011/08/no-lion-internet-recovery-apple-giving-free-lion-usb-sticks-to-some.ars

Maybe OS upgrade via app store only was not the best idea. (In concept good in real world bad ):o

Not sure if this has been posted:
    http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2011/08/buggy-nvidia-drivers-giving-2010-macbook-pro-owners-lion-upgrade-headaches.ars

Nvidia drivers on mid 2010 MPBs are causing trouble with Lion. Ars links to an apparent fix.

I have a cheap mp3 player (not iPod) that is not showing anywhere when I plug it in. Prior to installing Lion, it showed up no problem (on desktop, in disk utility etc) even when using the keyboard usb port.

    Any suggestions please?
