So... Is that Matt and Trey's way of saying this will be the last south park season?

Didn't really find the episode funny at all, except for the two britches stealing old dudes! You leave dem britches alone!

Is this the end for south park then?

It was a crazy episode...but sadly very true and made me feel old

Christ, I wasn't expecting that last 10 minutes.

    :(

Best episode of the season so far, as in it was actually funny and actually worth watching.

There is going to be another half season though, isn't there? It did seem like their way of saying they've had enough of south park, but I can't imagine them ending it like that.

if it is the last episode of south park, we'd probably have heard of it by now

i'd imagine there's been alot of negative reaction to this season, and that was kinda their way of responding to it.. yeah, we've been on for a long time.. there's not much more we can do with this. I won't be upset if this is the last season, we've had 14 years of great episodes and I'd be very excited to see what they get up to next.

I wasn't ready for those last ten minutes either. :( They certainly seem to be preparing for the end. I don't think they have been renewed for any episodes beyond Season 15. I read one prediction that they'll end it on the last day of the Mayan calendar, that seems fitting! All in all, a heavy ending to the episode, but maybe they're just trying to scare us and things will start to look up in the next episode of this two-parter. Here's hoping! :)

I read an article saying they were going to be down to the wire with making this series, and have been working on a big project (theatre I think?)
Stan and Kyle are supposed to be based on Parker and Stone, so maybe one of them is not in the best of moods these days and they had a falling out irl... :/

Certainly makes me wonder where they're going with it for the second half of the season.

on a lighter note, the movie trailers were kinda funny! that's about it though. so, does everyone think that the 7 episodes in the autumn will be it??

Loved this episode, them movie trailers were fcukin gas, Duck President lol, I haven't properly laughed out loud at a South Park episode in a while. Really well written thoughtful episode too, definitely a return to form after a poor enough season so far. Loved the way they ripped the piss out of other movie producers and dubstep too. Already feels like a classic episode to me.

Oh and about the whole thing about whether the show is ending, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just another joke to trick the fans.

well there's 7 more episodes minimum to be made, while I would be devastated if it ended, 15 seasons is enough for any show...

Good episode, a little crass but i did laugh a bit so...! I assume that last 5 minutes was due to the unwielding hate about this season, that they just don't wanna do it anymore - they're burnt out with the characters, and the fans aren't willing them to continue. I think we'll get 7 more episodes later this year and call it quits - whenever their contract with CC runs out; they won't renew.

tbh after me and most people really disliking a lot of eps this 1/2 season, it feels like time to finish up.

Reminds me of the bit in Star Wars Episode three when the Clone Troopers point their guns towards Jimmy Smits (aka Bail Organa)

CLONE SERGEANT: It's time for you to leave, sir.

BAIL ORGANA: And so it is.

Just wanted to say that I thought that was the most solid block of x7 SP eps I've seen in some years. Each one had a fair few laughs and there wasn't any notable duds like there usually is.

Funny to say it but this final ep did leave me feeling a little uneasy like I didn't know what they were trying to say where they were going with it. Worse still I identified a little TOO much with how Stan was feeling. I prob need a shrink.

Anyway, if it is an indication that they've had enough then I'll be fully behind them canceling the show and saying thanks for the memories. I think if the time came then Parker/Stone would have the integrity to end it and keep their legacy intact rather than just milking it to the bitter end like Groening and the Shítsons.

I thought it was a great episode with plenty of laugh out loud moments. I could relate a lot to it. I actually think this has been one of the poorest seasons of the show yet and their frustration over the show was apparent throughout the season. I liked the fact that this was referenced in the episode. At least they are being honest.

I'd be fine with there being an extended break. I don't think it should necessarily end although maybe churning them out each week needs to be looked at.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,595 ✭✭✭bonerm

It's a bit of exaggeration that they're churning them out every week. For one thing they only produce 14 per year (ie more or less 1 per month) and for another it's only maybe 4 that are actually anyway topical so they could be sitting on the rest for years to cover periods of peaks and dips. Whilst I love them the episodes themselves are fairly poorly written in that they don't seem to adhere to the general conventions of script-writing and generally revolve around crude humour and simple editorialisation. Basically they're easier to write than most of the stuff on tv.

That said it's still a great achievement for the two the of them to make a show like this on their own. I can imagine it can be tough going at time.

I really enjoyed the cinema trailer sequence, its so fcking true, same goes for the music. The duck quacking sh1t out its mouth, hilarious. I liked the reference to Custers Revenge, an ancient game I think for the atari back in 1982. The way the mood changed, I was totally taken aback. I got the sense that they could be ending the show soon. After 14 years staleness inevitably sets in but unlike the way the Simpsons is managed they've actually copped onto the fact that they're just relying on blatant Monty Python toilet humour to carry the episodes. Its really sad, I don't think it should end completely. I think they should take a break for a few years and come back fresh to it or just release one off specials when they actually feel inspired because after a while forcing through creative ideas eventually becomes difficult because the inspiration/passion dries up.

    Worth a watch.

Just watched it. I thought it was shitty. :)

It needs a big kick up the arse for the second half of the season (if there is one).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭Niles

Wasn't that wild about it at first, but the ending kind of struck you all the same. The "cynical" plot was ok but not the greatest by any means. I think the show still has life in it, this season started off poor but the two episodes previous to this were pretty good in my opinion. Ultimately I suppose it's up to Parker and Stone, if they feel the creative energy isn't there anymore that's their decision and fair play to them for not pretending otherwise - but I can't help but think if they took a season off and came back it might do the show a power of good. I'd hate to see this show stop while MacFarlane continues to pump out the drivel that is Family Guy.

It's comforting in a weird way to know that they want to move away. This season was terrible and the shows seem as if they're half-hearted. If it is to be the end though it has been a great show and probably the best animated comedy for laughs.

The last ten minutes really redeemed this episode. You have to hand it to them, 14.5 seasons in and they produce something totally different. Never expected to be depressed after a South Park episode (meant in a good way)

The boys talking about the Book of Mormon mainly, but they also talk about this episode. They said they loved making it and that they're definitely coming back in august!

edit* that link won't let you watch the clip, but when you watch it from the south park facebook page it seems to work

If I had not known who was behind it the first thing I would have thought is South Park!
