    Hi ladies,

I have put a deposit on a dress that I love, I hadn't chosen it for any specific occasion but I just loved it so had to have it :)
I've been invited to a wedding in late July and was wondering if i'd get away with wearing it.

*This isn't me in the photo, I couldn't find a pic of the dress online and as the dress is still in the shop I couldn't take a photo of it so I I took the picture off the shops facebook page*

The dress is gorgeous!! I'd defo wear that to a wedding in July!

Maybe with nude heels and bag instead of black to lighten it up a bit!

    Where did you get it?!

    It's lovely.

Agree with the above poster to wear some nude heels.

I wore a black dress (Banana Republic) to my cousin's wedding last June and got away with it... dressed it up with a pink cardigan and some flats.. Just add a bit of color and it should be fine!

Oh i'm delighted now, I love buying dresses but it always seems like I can never find anything suitable whenever something comes up!

I got it in a shop called Voila, they have shops in Waterford and Gorey. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=213080368714582&set=a.212454305443855.88673.198284296860856&type=1&theater

It's by a brand called La Rochelle, I think it's a Spanish brand but I couldn't find an online stockist.

The lady who owns that discount designer shop in Athy called buy design that was recently shown on XPOSE was wearing the dress herself in the segment (you can only see the top of it) https://tv3.ie/videos.php?web_only=&full_episode=&locID=1.65.68&page=3&detailed_search=1&search_term=&search_area=&date=&show_cal=2so I did email that shop to see if they sold the brand but she never got back to me but it might be worth ringing them to see!

I just have to find the perfect nude shoes now!!

Thank you, I will have a look at Aldo shoes but i'd be grateful for any other suggestions aswell!

When I tried on the dress I was wearing these earrings and they looked lovely with the dress, leafgold.jpg

they looked really subtle because my hair is blonde at the mo so if I keep it blonde I might wear those but I might end up dying my hair black again before that so I might have to pick up some other accessories too :D

Interesting... Where I come from black is banned at weddings (and so is white of course, since it's the bride's colour) :)

I'm off to a wedding in Ireland next month and I was thinking about wearing a red dress. Would that be okay? And are there any colours that are "banned" at Irish weddings?

To be honest i've always seen plenty of people wearing black at Irish weddings, the reason I started the thread was to see if everyone thought it would be ok for a summer wedding as I know people wear black in the cooler months but didn't know what the reaction would be in the summer months.

No colours are really *banned* here apart from white/cream but I read once on this forum that someone said you shouldn't wear red as that makes you look like the "scarlet woman".

However, I really don't think the rest of Ireland thinks that at all!!

    Thank you, Tayla! :)

I've found it very difficult to determine what to wear because of the cultural differences (even though I'm not from an exotic country of any sort, I can't help but to feel there is such a difference)

I may stick with a long summer dress instead. It's blue, brown and a little bit of white - and I was thinking of matching it neatly with a brown shawl. Does that sound awful or okay-ish? Or what would ye recommend? :o
