Head gasket blown :(

So my Fiesta decided to give up today and the head gasket blew on the motorway! I've managed to have it towed to my house, just wondering what price range it would be to get it fixed?

I'm thinking I might just pay for a new car if the repair is to expensive and was also wondering if car tax can be claimed back? I still have a month of two left on the tax and if the cars a goner it'd be nice to get the money back, cover the cost of the tow home at least!

I can only speak with regards to the tax & for some random reason there needs to be 3 full months left on the disc to get a refund.
