German stamp collection... valuable?

    Hey folks,

My dad found a few old books of stamps that his sister had brought home from Germany, probably in the early 80s.

The books are big, clean, solid looking binders ('Safe album'), and everything is immaculately organized, etc., which leads me to believe the books were bought that way (as opposed to the stamps being individually collected). Dunno if that affects the value or what.

Anywho, the earliest stamps in the book I'm looking at now (there's 3) are from 1918, through the next few decades (including some Nazi stamps from 1945), into the mid 1960s.

Do any of ye happen to know if they're worth anything? I have no idea about stamps :p

    Cheers

I've attached a couple of pictures

    edit:

Some of them are from 'Osterreich', which I gather is Austria

There's also gaps on some of the pages, where it looks like the collector couldn't find the stamp mentioned.

Hi Dave, do all the pages in the album look like the ones in the photo?.I have some German albums and a picture of each stamp is printed within the pages of the albums indicating where each stamp is to be mounted

hmmm, not sure what you mean...

There are stamps in the spaces (not just pictures), because there are also spaces on many of the pages where there is (written) information on what stamp is supposed to go there.

Any idea if they'd be valuable?

Just checked the other books and the stamps go up to the 80s. Presumably the older ones would be higher value.

Hi Dave, from the photo's they appear to be the printed pages and not the stamps,it may just be the way the photo is showing.Generally individual stamps won't be worth a lot but if the collection is large then maybe it might be worth your while having them checked and see what value is put on the collection as a whole. As a guide check ebay and you should be able to spot some of the stamps for sale and this will give you an idea of what they are worth.
