    Hi I bought a new iphone4 yesterday.
Tried to charge it up today.
I've tried usb-laptop and also mains but getting no charge.
Its stuck in the 'red' at 16% charge in top right corner.
I tried taking out Sim and restarting.
I tried a differnet usb cable.

Is there another reason for the non charge?
any suggestions or is straight back to the shop in the morning?
I havent even got to use it, so far sent 2 messages and no calls.
bit annoyed have to say.

Yeah I'd say bring it back, it's probably something faulty with the battery. Have you tried a restore to see if that helps? Even draining the battery all the way down and then charging again? Still bring it back though. :)

Have you tried a hard reset? Hold down the home button and the on/off switch until the Apple comes up and then let go.
It might be worth trying a different cable as well.
    Did it get wet?

If your having problems already its best to just bring it back and get it replaced. With anything you buy if you are having problems straight away the chances are more will happen soon.

If you're using Windows, have you loaded the drivers for the iPhone (ie: installed iTunes)? - Windows won't charge devices which it doesn't have drivers for, in case it provides too much current, causing damage.

no it didnt get wet, literally took it out of box this afternoon.
saved my contacts to the new sim and then plugged it in to charge.
I did try a second cable (one from my ipod)
I just tried holding the home and on'off button til apple showed, the screen came back on after about 30seconds but when i tried to charge it again its still stuck on 14%

the 'charged' icon is appearing now in top right corner and not the 'charging icon'.

also got prompted for new iOS, which i accepted.
probably shouldnt have but thought it might help

It might be worth trying to doing a restore.

but should it not charge ok from the mains and not my pc?
I have itunes downloaded, had it before buying the phone.

I bought it in an O2 shop, I hope I can bring it back to a different o2 store as I wont be able to return to the same one for at least a week

Yes it should charge from the mains - fair enough, I was just confirming that you had all bases covered.

I'd say you should try a restore as mentioned, and if that doesn't fix it, bring it back, as it seems to be faulty, if a restore doesn't fix it.

Another O2 shop should be able to sort you out, but be sure to have the receipt to hand.
