I set out last Sunday 5th June on a spin down to the Longford vintage show,to say it was a wet and dismal day is an understatement upon arriving at the gates I noticed a few cars heading out never a good sign but I trundled on up to gate and my friend who was in car with me was charged 10 euro which I paid a bit much I thought but I went in and parked up anyway and we set about having a look around very few there and didnt look like anymore to come. I quickly got under cover as it was lashing down when I overheard a few stewarts saying that they would be stopping charging at the gate, whether this happened or not I cant say for definite all I know is I was only in a few mins before I overheard this and I felt slightly robbed I was at a few shows this year and I was only charged 5euro for most and the weather was a hell of a lot better. What I am saying here is that the people who organise these shows would want to take a long hard look at themselves and try and run things a bit better, the crackly speaker that whistles and farts out of it while playing cheesy music does nothing for anyone but launch an assault on peoples ears. Another point I would like to make is who picks the car of the show? imagine my suprise when the winner on Sunday was a bloomin beatle now I have nothing against beatles or their drivers per say but from what I seen Sunday there were definitely a few more cars there that were certainly more worthy of the crown it really makes one wonder!!! Should there perhaps be some kind of independent judge I think perhaps there should. I for one will not be attending this show next year and I know people will say that it was the weather maybe it was partly to fault but even if the sun was scalding the grass, two donkeys in a coral of sorts(pissed of ones at that I may add as they were braying as much as I am now) bad music, absolutely no atmostphere at all, daylight robbery on the gates will discourage people from going to these events and they will become a thing of the past its just an observation maybe its time that some new blood was brought in to organise these events and just update them a little maybe think outside the box a bit too. I for one like bringing my car to these shows and I know a few more people who do too,but unless some changes are made we will opt for road runs instead and for all those who did attend fair play to ye I think ye deserved more.

Did you take any more pics by chance? I see what looks like a pale blue Triumph 1500TC (Dolomite shape) that may well be my old car. Love to know if that's it.

Personally i don't think €10 was overcharging to enter this show.
I would imagine it was a bad day because it rained and cars did not show up for that very reason.
I'm sure the organiser were more disappointed that anyone and had planed to raise some money for charity(if the show was for charity)
Judging can be taken to seriously at small shows like this.
I would prefer to see prizes for the car that travelled the furthest or the car i would most like to take home rather than condition.
Otherwise the man with the most money(ie best car)wins every time.
Hopefully the weather improves for the rest of the season and we can all get out and enjoy our Hobby.

It's €20 to enter a car to the Mosney show on Sunday
    €10 if prebooked.

Did u read my thread? I stated in it that it was lashing rain!!!!! and 10 euro was to to dear if they stopped charging a few mins after I got in as Neilw said "if you pre book mosney show its 10euro" I d rather tip to mosney and pay a tenner for a something more to look at,and I did hear no charity been mentione. I also never said "the man with the most money (ie best car)" should win everytime and I dont think people with more money as you put it nessescarily have the best cars either. Were you actually at this show??

I must agree with this poster! In effect there are too many "vintage" shows in Ireland and its a far cry from when my dad and us, his sons used to organise 20 or so cars to attend the Abbeyshrule Fly In. Each car received a petrol contribution, 2 lunch tickets (lunch, not a soggy sambo!), entry to the show and a finishers award. This was in the late 70's-early 80's, but it shows how things have changed!! Now car owners are CHARGED by some shows to display their car!! There are some exceptions, eg Kilbeggan and Newcastle. others are well organised affairs and can probably justify a 10 euro charge, eg Mondello & Terenure. But €20 for Mosney?!! Could this be true? Id turn at the gate. I think the paying public too deserve better. Gate numbers show that the whole vintage show thing is played out......Tip? Keep an eye on the IVVCC calendar of events and go to the start of one of their terrific events, eg The Gordon Bennett. Get to see the best cars in Ireland.....for free.
