Hi Folks - Im new to this section of boards - And im obviously certain this has been brought up before so apologies in advance!
What delivery method will Amazon use for a blue Ray Player around the 130 euro mark! Im unwilling to buy anything of real value if anpost are delivering - ive had years of bad experiences with them and they have damaged several items i bough, and even completely lost one! It was a camera which made it all the way from Australia, and ANPOST LOST IT WHEN IT ARRIVED - I got my money back as it was insured, but a vintage camera i spent a week bidding on is irreplaceable!

AnPost if you want free delivery, courier if you want to pay for next day delivery.

Amazon are great though, if anpost did end up damaging your bluray player in any way Amazon will sort you out. IMO they have the best customer support of any online retailer.

I dunno whether its just Anpost in my area - i have found them to be a disgrace - and not at all interested in any inconvenience they may cause to customers - they dont attempt to deliver anything that weighs more a little bit - it ends up dumped in a depot - And then i have to pick it up

Ive gone ahead and bought it and i was charged for delivery - Postage & Packing: GBP 5.10

So does this mean its anpost - is there anyone i could email or contact to find out if it will be anpost or a courier -

Yeah, it varies from area to area and postie to postie...in general mine are great, really helpful and accommodating - although there's one new lad who seems to be quite slow at delivering post and often delivers to the wrong address, he's new but would want to get his skates on and learn quickly.

If you didn't choose the delivery method i assume it'll be anpost, but check on Amazon's support page, there should be an option to get them to call you - I've used it before and they called me within 10minutes

EDIT: Found the link to get Amazon to call you: Clicky

I have had similar problems with An Post. I no longer get any packages delivered home, I get them delivered to my work reception. I had one experience where I could see the delivery guy from my apartment window and I saw him filling out the "You weren't in, your package is in the depot" form. He had never even attempted to ring the buzzer. I ran downstairs and was able to get the package off him before he ran away thankfully.

But saying that, I have had very good customer service with Amazon. I had a set of 2 gorrillatorches that went missing through An Post. I got in contact with Amazon and told them stories about my problems with An Post. They resent my order but through a courier service for free. Best customer service you can find online.

Ive heard similar stories of the renound Amazon customer care - they replaced a friends MP3 player after it arrived damaged - Im 100% confident in them to ship my item- My main problem is that this item is a birthday present which i need by Next week end 18th June - AMazon is currently listing my item as being shipped tomorrow and to be delivered monday or tuesday next week -13th/14th - That would be fine, in fact anytime up until friday would do nicely -

But again i go back to earlier dealings with Anpost - Once about 6 years ago, i was buying some computer components on ebay- I was left waiting for 3 weeks and ended up opening a case with the seller - i had contacted Anpost with a tracking number which they assured me had never arrived in ireland - despite France insisting it had left their shores! In any case a month later my Dad ordered something completely unrelated and had to pick it up from a depot- and low and behold there was my item - it had been in the depot all along - I chased this up with anpost - when i asked the guy in the depot why it hadnt been logged he just shrugged - and reminded me that at least i had received it - Anpost customer care were equally co-operative - Maybe the barcode was worn - or the address wasnt clear "well our delivery guys would have left a note so it must have been the wrong address"! Cant stand them since then...
