    Good riddance.

I have to say that I'm not too surprised, I didn't find Fishburne's character to be very convincing. Plus it didn't help that he was trying to replace William Peterson who had become synomymous with the show.

Hopefully they'll get rid of Marg Helgenberger as well, she looks like she's had more plastic surgery than Michael Jackson and her face has that permanent "wind-tunnel" effect from having too much botox done.

I never liked Fishburn, the season 11 finale was a stinker!...he needs to go, i mean, the character
killed a suspect, Nate Haskell....blatant murder!
, you can't have a CSI doing his job after that carryon!

I think season 12 will be the last, show is on it's last legs.

So was ER at that piont in its but that went on and on and with Marg Helgenberger at this moment only planning to do a few episodes like Noah Wyle in ER I reckon another 1 or 2 seasons before the show is cancelled and hopefully we will get a sorta flashback episode with the original cast before the end happens.

Is that still on? Once you've seen one season of that show you've seen all there is to see. Only CSI Miami is worth watching as it makes a mockery of the whole concept which is ridiculous to begin with.

I thiught there was some talk of his wanting to return to the series?

Great news, I never liked his character. He always came across a bit constipated or something.

For the naysayers, have you seen him in Damages, or are you all still thinking Sam Malone in Cheers?

Indeed - he's excellent in "Damages". He manages to play a character, seething with buried anger, very well. I was pleasantly surprised.

i have to say i wasn't particularly enamoured with Laurence's character. they brought him in as a high profile replacement for Billy Petersens Grissom, but the character started as a level one, no experience rookie, so off the bat he wasn't the great replacement. i don't feel he really gels with the rest of the cast and am quite glad when they don't put him overly at the forefront of an episode. the 3 way crossover that he took the helm for nearly killed me.

so i don't mind that he isn't renewing.

as for Ted Danson, i shall reserve judgement until i have seen him in action. he is coming in in the proper role, as supervisor not rookie, which is good and he has the right look about him. how he plays the character and interacts with the others will have to be seen.

not sure how i feel about Marg going part timer. i was quite worried that they were gonna end up with next to non of the original characters and that would completely ruin the show for me. so we shall see

Hopefully will be an improvement on Laurence Fishburne's Ray Langston

    http://www.digitalspy.ie/ustv/news/a330957/jorja-fox-promoted-to-csi-series-regular.html

Jorja Fox has been promoted to a series regular for the new season of CSI

Fox was a full cast member for the first seven seasons of the show but
    decided to leave in 2007.

    Her character Sara Sidle
returned in 2009 and Fox then signed a new deal last year, though she was not credited as a regular.

However, Fox will be a full series regular when CSI returns later this year, TV Line reports.

Ted Danson recently signed up to play a supervisor in CSI, while Laurence Fishburne announced in May that he will no longer appear on the series.

    CSI
will return for its 12th season on September 21 on CBS.

Wow Ted Danson, didn't expect him, or Fishburn to leave, but it makes sense I suppose after last season.
I thought Nate Haskell was a decent sociopath, but whatever happened to that leather gimp suit guy? He was a bit mad.

It'll be weird watching Danson in this and Bored to Death, where he plays a total stoner... unless he is in CSI too! :pac:

    http://www.digitalspy.ie/ustv/news/a333257/marg-helgenberger-to-leave-csi-after-next-season.html

Marg Helgenberger has revealed that next season will be her last on CSI.

The actress, who first revealed her intention to leave the CBS procedural drama last year, announced the news during the network's TCA presentation in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

CSI execs will prepare for Helgenberger's departure by writing in the arrival of a new character played by Ted Danson in a manner that causes Helgenberger's Catherine Willows role to be "moved around" in the ranks.

Helgenberger explained: "There is a little resentment, but Ted's character so far is endearing and has a unique way of looking at a crime scene. It's a nice fresh perspective and it kind of gets under everyone's skin a little bit, in a good way.

"I think Catherine is very intrigued by him. I think ultimately Catherine is a team player and they took some liberties last season the way the crime came about or was solved and she was willing to admit it. And this is the fallout."

Helgenberger also insisted that the decision to leave the show was her own, adding that while she will miss the "family" of her crew, she is looking forward to pursuing other projects.

"I've been itching to get back on the stage, but it's been hard. The commitment on this show and then raising a son, who's now 20, a production assistant on CSI! He was nine when I started the show," she said.

"That's one of the cute things about being on this show as long as you've been on. A lot of crew members' children who were all little kids at the time are now working on staff. That's what makes it even more of a family and even harder to leave."

Helgenberger also hinted that she could return to CSI in some capacity in the future.

Grissom is coming back! [sorta]: CSI
George Eads (Nick) got married on June 17 with cast mates Marg Helgenberger (Catherine) and Eric Szmanda (Greg) in attendance. "Billy [Petersen] sent an amazing salad bowl and note," says George, who later got the scoop on a gift Billy's planning for fans. "He told me he's going to come back this season to help us with Marg's exit."

Out now folks, moved it;s slot it seems form Thursday to wednesday. Haven't been following the news so TD was a shocker

News that Marge is going too is not surprising after the last season, the show can move on with out her at this point, I just hope it does not go the way of NY and turn to poo this season leaving Miami to be the ruler of so bad it's good and I watch it out of habit.

^ grabbing it now, i wanna see how Danson fills the job, Fishburn was a total flop!
Elisabeth Harnois is a great addition, seen her in loads...bit of a fan, be interesting to see the father/daugther dynamic with her and Ecklie, since we don't see Jim and his trainwreck daughter anymore.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Not a bad opener!...Danson is rather quirky, in a good way. He's a bit soft out of the block but there were things said between him and Ecklie as if he'll bring down the hammer on the team pretty sharpish, he actually pulled up Nick for not giving him a report quick enough, the end where Nick/Catherine are having it out over the Haskle fiasco and her being demoted, he texts the entire team....lets have breakfast, ergo....i'm here to sort you guys out.

Danson is good, he sold me...much stronger personality then Fishburn, he has the presence of a team leader, someone who'll get these guys back on track and following the rules again, clean house etc.

It was needed, CSI botched things last season and had the team doing stupid and illgeal things that any real lab would have them fired from, so the show needs to get the team back on track.

Quite a bit of humour as well, twas a fairly light episode. I think Danson is just what the doctor/CSI needs.

Anyone here like me love CSI? AKA CSI las Vegas? Season 12 aired last night in the US but we will have to wait a few months before it airs here.

Weird episode to kick of the season.
Not sure if Ted Danson is
    comedy relief or serious.
I did like the way he said that the whole team
    think they are social workers
.I think that comment was just waiting to be made by someone.
    Fishbourne
really was brushed under the carpet in this ep , maybe they'll come back to it later in the season. Hopefully we'll get a "big bad" this season like the miniture killer. I'd like to see
    Catherine
killed off , her caracter is getting old. As she said herself in this episode ,
12 years on and she's still doing the same old same old
    .

    A love interest for
    Greg
would be nice , and it being
    Ecklie's daughter
    could be played for laughs.

Might be time to put this old workhorse down methinks , a lot of the caracters (Sara , Nick and Brass) have really nowhere else to go as caracters that has'nt already happened.

I wrote off Ted Danson and I will admit he wasn't that bad. Better than Fishbourne anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,533 ✭✭✭don ramo

i like dansons caracter, much better than fishbournes, i thought it was stupid bringing in an actor like fishbourne and making him a rookie CSI, danson really is laying down the law to everyone, but you know he has a wife and kids so something is gonna happen:D

danson coming in as the boss makes sense, i thought it was stupid giving fishbourne the first credit in the title but have him at the lowest rank,
