A well known local and boards user was shafted by one of his Facebook friends and a mountain was made out of a mole hill.

    Today's Sun?

I assume you don't want us to go out and by that rag.

So unless you give us some details I'll have to nip out to the shop. (maybe cheekily read it in the shop if you give a page number)

Go on spill the beans, who was it? I only ask cos it can't be me cos I don't use FB (I feel dirty even typing the initials )

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,943 ✭✭✭abouttobebanned

It is you mate. They took some of your boards posts and reprinted them.

    "Filth of the highest order"

"the real Kieran Fallon is said to be fuming"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

What absolute Fúcking assholes. Jesus they would do anything to sell their rag of a paper.

Edit: I just saw it there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,943 ✭✭✭abouttobebanned

Some little gimp on his friends list obviously thought they'd cause some trouble. Jaysus if people starting reproducing my facebook stuff I'd be in some trouble.

Hopefully it will all be taken as a joke and everyone will move on.

Tried to upload the scan but the service is unavailable apparently

I've always wished that facebook would offer an 'enemies' button. I would find it more useful than 'friends'.

Friends are in the real world, but enemies are everywhere.

Anyone want to share the story? Or even give the rough jist of whats going on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

A fellow boardsie made an obvious joke about an Irish Model on his facebook page that although a little dark is definately no worse then I have posted. Sun decide to run with it on a full page story that he was serious.

Words escape me at how much of a non story it is.

On the bright side, at least we got to see that picture of her.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,101 ✭✭✭MitchKoobski

I like how even though she said "It's just a stupid thing on Facebook" they still try to make him look like some kind of rapist. I'd report 'em.

I thought this thread was another complaint about the Irish summer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

Well she is no fool like. It's just so blantanly obvious that he isn't serious. Personally I think it's the lowest forum of journalism, I'm all for exposing people when they deserve it but just to add legs to something to make it seem more sinister I think you simply need no moral compass.

As a side note I accidentally picked up a Star and page 9 is Tesco special offers page. I thought Abouttobebanned had finally lost it.

The amount of bull they write in that paper but Georgia Salpa is some bird.

    What a non-story.

    This is all about context.

The S*n are trying to make it look like he's advocating the use of Rohypnol, whereas I'm guessing he only joked that the only way she'd go back to his place is if it was used on her. Two different things entirely and NK should think seriously about legal action, or at least clarifying his position with another newspaper.

This is such a non-event, but they're using his involvement in the Music Fest against him. Hopefully they'll be allowed no coverage of the event. Alex Ferguson-style media lockdown!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,510 ✭✭✭Max Powers

I cant see one in a million people taking that serious, still though bit of publicity for Waterford MUSIC FEST and well known Portlaw descendent; 50c

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,020 ✭✭✭BlaasForRafa

Aye, in the midst of their "outrage" they managed to print a big picture of her in her underwear. They are some pack of hypocrites.

Is there anything that the press ombudsman can do if a complaint was made?

Are they doing a deal on Rohypnol?

I remember when the plane crash happened in Cork, I had the Daily Star and the Mirror ringing me looking for information about one of the survivors family. I told them to go **** themselves. Wouldn't even entertain "journalist" hacks like that with the **** on my shoe. And they can quote me on that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,591 ✭✭✭STIG83

Nah, its best just to ignore it. Think of the subliminal message, they are associating him with a sexy lady.

There is no such thing as bad publicity. Just look at Ryanair.

    Both hacks are on Twitter:

Barry Moran http://twitter.com/BarryM85 All he seems to do is goad celebrities, possibly with a view to then carrying a story on their response.
Blanaid Murphy http://twitter.com/IrishSunNews1 She doesn't use it much.

Jaysus that was a sheite story to have in a paper. If they seen the crap I put on my page they would dedicate a full newspaper to me. Muppets.

One of us should ring up The Star.

"I've a great story about Barry Moran harassing people on Twitter."

Hold on a second! Is that Barry Moran the guy that wrote the article? And he makes a stalking joke using a social networking site about a celebrity? Anyone pick on a touch of double standards.

Ryanair are a business. NK is a young man who's character is being besmirched as he's labelled an advocate of date-rape drugs. There's a world of difference there.

    That's true.

Anyway its a non-story. Anyone who was just flicking through would not notice it, just the picture of her. Its best just to let the story die.

Nobody is going to take that seriously and honestly thats some publicity that would have cost a serious amount of money. The festival and headlining acts mentioned in a national paper/fcuking rag.
Like they say, no such thing as bad publcity. Its obvious that it was a joke.

Maybe, but I imagine that's very hard for NK to do. Hopefully he's made of sterner stuff and with a good network of mates around him.
