    Hi,
Sprained my ankle at the weekend, healing well, have decent movement in it. Swelling and pain gone down a lot. Made sure to do simple movement exercises like "writing the alphabet", think it's helped.
However, still a bit of swelling and big bruises, I can walk though without pain, drove to work today aswell. Slight discomfort when I stand still for a period or when I sit down, leg elevated is fine.

I want to go to physio as I'm due to go on holidays Friday week. Not sure when I should go to physio though, is there any point going now when it's still a bit swollen and bruised!?

    Yes there is.
The sooner you go the quicker they can do their Ice & ultrasound magic.

Agreed. I've gone straight away and even the smallest bit of manipulation work and/or strapping has taken weeks off my recovery time. Certainly if you are going on holidays you may want some good compression bandaging to help reduce the swelling quicker. A physio will do this.

    OP,

It's all been said above - the sooner you get even a minor niggle attended to the better.

We are sometimes amazed at say the healing powers of professional athletes but they heal well due to the quick and regular attention they get.
