It was decent, not sure it was as funny as Summer Heights High though and the American accent on your man was fairly ropey in parts. Still, I laughed.

Am a couple of episodes ahead of BBC3.. but it's decent!

It's no Summer Heights High, and the S Mousse stuff is terrible.

But the Gran and Daniel / Nathan stuff can be hilarious!

Just watched it earlier on, I thought it was pretty good but not on par with Summer Heights High. I love the kids prison and 'gran', I think she's the best character!

Anyone else think Smouse is extremely similar to Soulja Boy, even the music, "slap your elbow"!

Soulja Boy seems the most obvious target of the lampooning but the character includes allusions to Kanye West and other rapper too, but yeah that song could be a Soulja B-side.

I admire your man for moving beyond his comfort zone but the rapper stuff is the weakest part of the show thus far.

been watching them here in australia as they come out, its not great.
there is so much hype over here about chris lily and this show but in my opinion its very poor and only mildly amusing. its no where near summer heights high funny. suprised the show is getting some good reviews.

A B-side?! I could see Soulja Boy releasing it! :pac:

I watched it last night, it was good but I didn't think it was up to the level of Summer Heights High.
The rapper part felt like it was shoehorned in just because it's co-produced by HBO, and wasn't related enough to the other characters.
I also found the tone a bit strange, especially in the prison sections, and sometimes with Nathan the deaf guy. Suddenly at times it seemed like you were supposed to take it seriously, like they were trying to make a serious point about troubled kids in Australia.

    I think that's exactly it..

.. Daniel and Nathan spend so much time fighting but
Daniel's reaction at Nathan not getting the cochlear implant
    and
him trying to set up the "Legends" party
definitely is hinting that the show and characters have more heart that it was initially portrayed.

That's the impression I got as well, also
when they were talking about Nathan going to the deaf school, and Gran giving tissues to the kid who was crying. I thought it was going to show him stop crying when she left as he was pretending so he could get the tissues for a w*nk, but no, he was really crying!

It's tough to balance drama and comedy like that, I hope they can pull it off.

I'm sad to say it but I'm slowly losing interest in this show, the initial promise from the first couple of episodes has lapsed and I really don't like the domineering Japanese mother character.

Episode 7 was on last night which I haven't seen. I hope it starts to pick up again.

Well, who sticked this out to the end?
    What did you think?

Overall I was fairly disappointed with the show. Gran and the twins were by far the best characters and some of their scenes were typically heart-wrenching as is Lilley's wont.

S Mouse was a bit cringey but Slap My Elbow was hillarious.

Jen was terrible. Way OTT and the whole GAYSTYLE thing was a bit ridiculous.

Blake Oakfield seemed like a nice guy but very immature. Supposedly the Surf Gang thing is based on a real life gang so on this front I can't say the story is off-beat.
The ending was nice, it had this will they won't they show up and it was nice to see the Legends meeting up with the twins

it finished last night on BBC3. taught the ending was very good.
overall it was average enough. as people have said above, the Nathan/Daniel/Gran characthers were very good but S.mouse and the Japenese mother stuff were pretty sh!te

hopefully Lilley will do another programme soon.
