E200K [W211] Estate - Problems when cold

    Hi

    I have a 2003 E200K estate, the W211 version.

When it is cold, the engine/transmission is "chuggy" - it slouches when changing gear and feels like the clutch is slipping (although it is an auto)

Problem is, nothing shows up on the diagnostics.

The radiator is not a Valeo model (thank god) so I don't think it's that problem.

It's had two visits to a franchise dealer who have cleaned something inside the engine and changed all the fluids, but no improvement.

Anyone recognise this? Any good specialists in the Dun Laoghaire vicinity who are good at this kind of thing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

What oil is in the gearbox? The problem is gone after a longer drive? Do you know if the oil was changed or flushed and changed?

The problem diminishes greatly after about 5-10 mins, but never completely goes away. It seems worst when the car is moving between 2nd and 3rd when cold. There is a sense of the "clutch" slipping as it does so.

    Does it slam into gears?

Do you get a shudder when it goes up through the gears?

It happened twice on the E280 in the family. Something to do with airlocks or old oil in the gearbox. It went away after a while but needed seeing to by a dealer each time. Happened twice across 11 years.

Very hard to put into words, but I wouldn't describe as a shudder.

it's like when it changes gear, it doesn't properly engage (car still goes forward, but it's a bit of a lurching movement.

No slamming into gears so far.
