    Hi All,
I got a call from my farmer neighbour that a fox had called to him and made off with one of his hens,so as i have poultry i said i would be on my way but it wouldn,t be till 11pm. In the meantime i gave my buddy a call and said would he be on for a trot around the farm with the lamp??
He said no worries he was on, when he arrived at my place we got our kit together and headed off .After a two minute drive we arrived got out and headed off on foot and lamped the fields as went. Then we got to a high field over looking a glen and decided we would call for five mins. we scanned the field below us and we picked up the glare of a foxes eyes just on the edge of some rushes about eighty meters away!! It was a cub.I was lying on the ground perfect pulled the shot and it was over! Just as we had fired another cub broke from the rushes and stopped! crack the second was dispatched!! Lamped around for a minute no sign of any other fox but knew the vixen wasn't far away then we saw her running into some forestry at the back of the field, called for a bit catching her as she went in and out of cover. We decided to move into the next field for a better angle and i changed the call to a fox barking as soon as i did she ran straight out from the forestry into a clump of rushes all you could see was her head and neck, crack thump!! She fell where she stood!! It was all over as quick as it began! We lamped around again to see if any more cubs were around no sign. We collected our foxes and headed off happy at our nights foxing!! I met the farmer the next day as i was checking again that no cub was left there, he was delighted with our result!! These are the nights that i enjoy most and find most rewarding when you head off on foot and get results!!

Thanks. I find the orange very good on the lamp shy foxes and its a bit easier to pick the fox out than the red one, but thats just my preferance.Just one draw back is that any fox out a long way its limits your chances unless u have the magnification.

    Nice shooting and nice Tikka.

The vixen looks pretty ate up with mange around the shoulders and hind end. Was she bad with it or are my eyes playing tricks?

It's a lovely looking setup.. I'd say the .243 is a great dual purpose calibre alright, keep up the good work ;)

Brilliant. Fair paly man. I missed one last night. He moved or i moved.. either way its back to the targets for a while. Its a mortal sin to miss a fox.. only makes them shy!
