    Hello

I will have my driving test tomorrow noon, so just want to ask you guys what I need to aware of?

When I go in the office they will ask me some question before I go to the driving section. What is the most popular question they will ask?

Thank you for all of your time.

Check this site for a few questions.

    http://drivingtesttips.ie/Irish-Driving-Test-Questions.php

They'll go through the hand signals during the driving part.

You'll arrive at the test centre and park (preferably reverse in so you can drive straight out) then go inside and wait until you're called. You'll be brought to the tester's desk and he/she will ask you a few questions about the rules of the roads (popular ones include "When can you overtake on the left?" "What does a continuous white line mean?" and "What rules apply to a yellow junction box") and then ask you a few road signs (any of them can be asked, you will know most of them but there are a few that might stump you - look over the roadworks one, and pay particular attention to Clearway and Pedestrian Zone).

He/she will then take you outside the car and ask you to perform a few checks - where would you check the oil from, what is the recommended tire thread depth, where would you check the brake fluid from, where would you fill coolant etc.

He/she will then just verify that your indicators/brake lights are working and get in the car, where they may ask you how do you demist the windows, or demonstrate the use of any other of your secondary controls, like how do you turn on the rear fog lights?

Then you go off driving - he/she won't say anything apart from giving you directions, and you can ask him/her to repeat if you're unclear! The driving bit only lasts about 25mins max and if you've been doing lessons, you may even be brought into areas/estates that you have been before!

    Best of luck!

They'll ask you 3 or 4 questions, they could either be on road markings, ie, when and when not can you enter a yellow box. Will also more than likely show you a couple of road signs, and ask you what they mean. Or could ask you on different sinarios you may encounter whislt on the road and how you shoud act.

Before the driving section you will also have to demonstate vehicle checks. You might be asked where the different fluids go, how to check the oil, what to look for on tyre wear. You will also have to show where different controls are on the inside. Also show that you check the mirrors and your seat belt before being instructed to drive off.

    Good luck with it.

    ;)

Did my test 4 times and basically got asked the same questions every time.
Know signs for pedestrianised street, clearway, road narrows, hospital...yes they catch a lot of people out with the hospital one.

As for questions, got asked the same ones over and over, what does a solid white line mean? when can you cross it? what does a yellow box mean? when can you enter it? difference between motorway and dual carriageway? and who must you stop for?

I did my test twice (with two different testers) and got asked more or less the same questions as Noo each time. The hospital one did stump me for a while... I remember looking at it before but when asked all I could think was "Helipad.... Helipad... Helipad..." but then it clicked that a helipad wouldn't be a road sign.

Get a rules of the road book if you don't have it, but if your test is tomorrow then you can look here http://www.rotr.ie/understanding-traffic-signs/index.html

(But still get a ROTR book it's ESSENTIAL that you know everything in that book if you're driving on roads).

Ha ha, everytime I'm goin over the signs and I see that sign I always say Helipad too without even thinking how stupid an answer it is lol. I can actually imagine it happening in a fair few tests though.
I've my test tomorrow in Carlow at 14.55 tomorrow. Just when there'll loads of mad little 10 year old 'hazards' running around :P, in the town with the highest failure rate too :(

I hope I'll be posting in the successful thread tommorrow, after weeks of lurking, but in a town with a 66% failure rate I'm afraid I won't be :(

Best of luck. Don't worry too much about the failure rate - statistics mean nothing to the individual (so they say!).

With luck you'll pass, but if you fail it won't be the end of the world - it'll feel all the better when you eventually do pass :D

    Congratulations, OP

Well done! How were the questions?
I passed mine few years ago.

as i remember the first question is about ember, when should you dip your headlight...evil yellow box, what is a dual carriageway....how you use the roundabout and 1-2 questions i counldnt remember as it is some time awhile now. road sign dual carriageway, clearway, pedestrianized street and road narrows.

give extra careful during the driving test, check all the stop sign and be aware of the white line...
