Is my image really too small for printing to A3

    Hi all,

I have a photo, which is a crop from my 12.3 megapixel Nikon D90, which now has 3121x2331 pixels . The tutor on my photography evening course says the resolution is too low to print to A3 size - The photo seems to have ~130-140 pixels per inches vertically and horizontally. Therefore is it just a matter of increasing the sampling rate to double what it is now via something like bicubic interpolation - to get a acceptable ppi?

Or if not what should I do?

    Many thanks!

tell the tutor it will happily print

although i think what the tutor is saying is that it doesnt have enough native resolution without up sampling

but i could quite happily print from that if the shot is nice and sharp etc

    and no one would know

thanks stcstc - much appreciated. So its fine without resampling or is resampling necessary for A3?

well i print from a rip so it would resample it for me

but if i was printing from photoshop i would upsample it too

an A3 print is not going to be generally scrutinised from several inches away, so you won't really have to stick to the standard 300DPI you'd like on a 6x4.
