    Hi,
I need to have my engine replaced in a Ford Focus. Its currently only a 1.4 and I was thinking about getting a 1.6 put in. I can get it done for €400. However I want to know about future problems this may cause with tax, insurance and NCT.

Will I have to have my log book changed and pay more for my insurance and tax.

What if I don't tell anyone that I had it changed, what will happen then?

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

You'll be getting insured without declaring the engine change and will be underpaying motor tax.

Okay and does anyone know how I would go about changing the engine size on the log book? Would it cost much?

    Thanks

You get a form from the motor tax office, the car has to be viewed by an assessor and he signs that the work is carried out. There is probably a charge due to the assessor , tax office will inform you of same. ;)

Heres some advice, a lot of mechanics have this idea in their heads that its a direct swap, its not. The ECU is different so you will have to get one from a 1.6. The car will still run but it won't be 100% if you use your existing ECU on a 1.6 engine.

The mechanic that is doing it only deals with swapping engines. He doesn't do repairs and he said that he done a lot of Focus Swaps before. So I would say he knows what he is doing.

Does anyone know what it would cost to change the log book?

If I didn't need to have it replaced anyway then I wouldn't bother going through all of this I would just buy one with a 1.6 engine already in it or stick with the 1.4

Is he even a real mechanic so? Or some guy who learned how to swap engines himself? Which would lead on to do you definately know it needs a new engine?

He is a real mechanic. Its in a proper Garage and it seem legit.

A friend of my dads is a mechanic and he told me it would be best to get a new engine for it.

But no one is answering my question of how I would get the log book changed and how much it would cost to have it changed?

Form RF111 is what you want.

    RF111part1 RF111part2

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.
