No HD on RTE 2

Whats going on? I bought a Philips 40inch Full HD TV with the Saorview label on the front. When I brought it home I was expecting RTE 2 to be in HD. The "dog" signifies that its HD but the picture is blatently SD.
Are we as license payers being conned by RTE?

Saorview label? There are no approved Philips sets.

    http://www.saorview.ie/products-retailers/saorview-approved-product-listings/

If someone (shop or manufacturer) puts Saorview label on unapproved product that's dishonest, it might not in reality be fully compatible and they are breaking Saorview Trademark and can be sued.

Also you can demand a full refund under sale of goods act for "misrepresentation".

Sadly there is nothing we can do about misleading HD dog on RTE2 other than complain to RTE2 and ASAI. There will be more HD, but not much yet. The Sky HD channels also show a lot of upscalled SD, but not as much as RTE2 is doing. RTE originally claimed the HD "dog" would only be added during HD content.

Where & when was the Philips TV with the Saorview label bought?
What model is the Philips TV?
If possible please upload photo of Saorview label on TV/box.
    Thanks in advance.

It was actually in the Philips store in Dame Street. It was marked with their own "Can pick up Irish Saorview Digital" label.
I can pick up all of the Saorview channels and Saorview text so it is compatible. But RTE 2 HD is broadcasting in SD. This is my issue. Where is the HD content on RTE2? I read through the posts and apparently only 4 hours of HD content was broadcast in the last 2 weeks. Are RTE taking the mickey?

Regardless of the TV used, the OP has a valid point. The permanent HD logo should be removed, or changed to say "RTE Two - might be HD, but more than likely not".

Saorview labelling is an important issue.
