Since the "Official Launch" of Saorview, i have noticed the level of interest in DTT and in particular set top boxes increase quite a bit - Now there are of course a number of Saorview certified boxes available currently from various sources not to mention a few Saorview Compatible/IRISH DTT boxes out there, many of which will support USB Recording - But one cant help but notice the difficulties some users are having, with regards to time shifting and other basic functionality - Correct me if im wrong but the only true functioning time shift CERTIFIED box available is the Triax -

So ive been looking for a cheap Freeview HD or +HD option to recommend to my mates (its the sport in HD that drew the most interest in my opinion btw).

It seems the cheapest USB PVR with time-shift facility is the HUMAX FOX T2:

At 90 Pound, just over 100 euro it seems to have all the trimmings, including being able to watch 1 and record on as long as the channels in question are on the same MUX-

As regards the cheapest TRUE FREEVIEW+HD PVR TWIN TUNER it seems the Digital Stream model available from humax is the cheapest in town at 170Pound Sterling - Whats more its twin tuning capability is not limited to channels on the same MUX -

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Stream-DHR8203U-Freeview-Set-top/dp/B003LLDK02/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1307445994&sr=1-1

I suppose what im wondering is did i miss anything - I was confused at first becase the HUMAX Is listed as non PVR on several websites - But it appears a software upgrade is required to allow PVR functionality-

So are there any cheaper options on the horizon, or are these the cheapest and in some cases best options available?

Dont think that Humax handles Saorview.

Ive seen several posts about it on boards, and all seemed to state that it works fine with saorview - the only drawback seems to be the channel numbering which is 801 for RTE1 etc - but the Digital Aertel and EPG and PVR functions are apparently fine - perhaps if someone has photographs of it in action they could post them!

One issue to be aware of with the FOX T2 is that it encrypts all programmes when recording to USB, both SD and HD.
