A quick question. Looking to find out about what are our laws in relation to temporary signage.

I was told recently that there is a seven day period where one can put up a sign legally? Apparently there is legislation permitting such?

Temporary signage similar to election posters. Generally socialists put up advertising signs on street lamps and so on, and I believe they can do so legally without falling under litter laws?

Check your local council's website. There should be a littering section and you'll find local regulations there.

Sect 19.1 of the litter pollution act.1997 -2003

Only exceptions to temporary signage ban are elections and public meetings. Public auction signs are still banned though.

If the signs are on private lands with permission some local authorities issue sect 20's from this act to the land owners.

If the temp. signs are not on private lands fixed penalty notices may be sent to who put up the posters.

Some local authorities are more vigilant than others and the N.R.A. remind them often of their responsibilities.
