Hi guys - I suffer from some malfunction somewhere in my stomach in that am ALWAYS hungry - always. Even after eating. It has gotton worse over the last few months.

Anyways, can someone give me a 101 on protein shakes? Are they good to keep you full/ok for breakfast or a snack? Or are they bad for you?

In anycase, are they tasty and can you recommend any brands?

    Thanks

If you are always hungry why do you thing these are a food idea?

Personally, I say they be bad for you personally as you eat a high amount of calories uickly yet still be hungry.
    Just have a proper meal/

Are you keeping hydrated? Drink enough water? When i go through a phase of been much hungrier than normal it's because im not drinking enough fluids.

Also, are you actually eating slowly and chewing food rather than just biting and swallowing?

Have you been to the doctor if this has been a longstanding issue?

Whey/Caesin product is just a dairy product - that is all. Not a magic pill. It's a by product. If you add whey on top of your food, you are simply adding extra cals into your diet. It's a different story if you are replacing something with the shake. They can be filling. Whey with milk and fruit and a little yogurt has me full for hours and hours.

hungry after eating? Are you exaggerating because if literally true you need to see a doctor.

    Am not exagerrating.

This has been ongoing for a while-but its gotton particularly bad in the last few months.

Right now am after eating my dinner (chicken/beans/2 egg whites/slice of brown bread/apple), and the hunger pain is bad - even have a headache - like I havent eaten anything. I swear am not making this up.

Have been to the doctor about 6 weeks ago. Did blood tests and all came back normal.

Thought protein might help fill me up.

Meant to say I drink at least 2 litres of water a day.

Hi, I wonder if you added some more carbs (potatoes, rice, pasta etc) to your dinner it might fill you up some more. Would you not eat all the egg including the yolk. You need to have a good balalnce of all the food groups.
If you keep a food diary for a few weeks and then go see a nutritionist and get their expert opinion and see if the problem can be fixed, if its not medical then it might be the food you are eating...

Hi - just saw post there.

So, in July I decided to stop eating carbs altogether for 2-3 weeks to effectively detox and break some bad habits. 5 weeks on Ive lost a stone and my eating habits are more or less back to normal. I upped eating protein and vegetables. I have reintroduced carbs in the form of brown bread and brown rice etc.

Now, Im no angel - I still like to have chips and drinks the like (drinks and fastfood go hand in hand so have to watchout for this one), the ODD time, and if I do fall off, I know the next meal or the day after I will get back on the wagon. Two other things which I feel made a huge difference in feeling hungry is fizzy drinks, such as Coke Zero and the like, and eating chewing gum. I used to eat maybe 1-2 packets of gum a day. Now Im down to zero. Again, Friday, for the first time in a few weeks, I had a piece of gum. Chewed it for a while. Got rid, and that was it - havent done it since. Basically, I wont deny myself anything.

Regarding the protein shakes, I tried a strawberry one (a tester thank God) but I didnt like the taste. So I just ate more protein and veg/fruit instead.
