Nice to see Nicolas Roche coming into a bit of form.

5th on today's stage, a mountaintop finish. Now 6th in the GC.

Great acceleration by Van den Broeck to leave the field behind. Delighted for Roche as he is under pressure, I'm sure, to hang on to his team leaders position after Gadret's performance in the Giro. No more hiding in the lead bunch. Also delighted for Evans. Pity Vino snook in there to claim the Yellow.

Am I the only one who really likes Vino?

That winning Canyon looked smashing didn't it?!

Black and white from one side and red and white from the other. Is that a pro special, or is that the case with the Joe Public machines?

Don't think you can buy that paintjob. It's actually dark green on one side.

This was Jurgen Van Den Broeck's first professional win. It's easy to forget how rare victories are for up and coming GC guys like him.

The final three stages look pretty grueling. Hopefully we will see Roche and Martin be able to dish it out at the business end of the week.
Martins particpation in TDF more than likely depends on having a good few days in the mountains at the end of the week.

    Interesting situation at the moment:
Split in the peloton after some roundabouts and street furniture has left Evans and Wiggins with some work to do. Astana and (w00t) AG2R are drilling it to keep them from getting back on so this could be a great opportunity for our boy Nico to get a few seconds and leapfrog Evans in the GC. I would have thought that Sky would have the horse power to pull it back but it's not happening right now.

EDIT: And it's all together again.

Another strong day from Roche, coming in a group of 13 day ahead of the rest, taking time off Evans and Bosen Hagen to move to 5th overall.

He stated earlier today that his main aim coming here was for the Time Trail tomorrow which is the exact same as the stage in the tour which will decide alot of placings, will be interesting to see how he fairs and hopefully will not lose too much time to Wiggins and co..

An awful shame but not surprising when I saw the state he was in after the spill. Not looking great for TdF.

Indeed, he really needed some top flight big mountain racing before the Tdf, it's all good practising with his team, but until he's racing against the elite in the world, he might struggle for a couple of stages when the really steep stuff rolls in, but hopefully it will come good in the end...and if not, he can work on building a solid platform for the Vuelta, and be a big contender for a top 5 position.

Now he might have some extra time on that time trial bike :D

2-in-a-row for Rodriguez, a phenomenal sprint finish from him to break away from the rest with a few hundred metres to go!:eek:
Wiggins had to hang on in for the last few km. He wins overall.

cracking ride from wiggo biggest win for sky, just see wiggins not being able to match those acccelarations as his real problem

Delighted for Wiggins and also for Rodriquez.

But what happened to Dan Martin  would have at least expected him to stay in the group of 20 or so thta made the last climb. Same yesterday. Must be ill. Anybody hear anything
