Hi guys just a quick one.
Tuned in Saorview channels in my parent's house today and whilst I can hear the new channels I cannot view the picture.
I think it's because it's a 3 year old LG TV that isn't HD ready.
Can somebody please advise what I need to do to get a picture.. I installed the same for my mother-in-law yesterday and it worked fine on her TV which is newer & HD ready. And i might ad the picture was unbelievable quality.
I'd have thought that whilst RTE 2 is HD, the rest aren't and that they would have worked fine.
A guy told me today that i need an analogue-Digital box?
    Any info/advice is much appreciated.
Just hope that a new set-top box is required since we've got ths far with the installation.

    Thanks a million folks
    Jayo

The TV is MPEG2, the system that's been in use in the UK for a few years; Here MPEG4 is used.

So that TV on its own will never show Irish DTT pictures. You'll need a separate set-top box for that.

Either a STB (or PVR) that can receive MPeg 4 transmissions, or a UK Freeview HD box should suffice Jayo.

HD Ready is a term used by the TV retail trade to describe a TV that has a lesser display (1360 by 1080) that Full HD (1920 by 1080). It has nothing to do with the digital decoder. It is unfortunate that these terms are used that just confuse the average punter.

You need a STB than can do DVB T1 MPEG 4 HD. If you wish to receive the HD services from NI, which will not be available until 2013, then you will need a FreeviewHD box that will then do DVB T2, and will do T1 MPEG 4 HD as well.
