Any suggestions for a 10k?

I only started this running business this year and have done one 5k and the GIR 10k thus far. I clocked a 43:11 in the GIR which I was pleased with given the hill on the second half of the course. I've heard that the GIR isn't a good race to achieve your PB. Anyway, I know from my training - on quite a flat route - that I can do 10k in and around the 40 minute mark.

Basically, I'm looking for suggestions for a good 10k race I can do in the Leinster area over the next few months. I'd be hoping to have a good stab at getting down near the 40 minute mark. Also, I have a friend who has been threatening to get into the running but failing to do so. He said he'd run with me if I found a race not too far away.

That sounds pretty good, although I only really got back into my training today for the first time since the GIR. I had a few niggling injuries since that race and changed job recently which has consumed most of my training days. Could be tricky getting off work for it too but I'll keep it in mind.

You work Saturday evenings? liamo123 is right, this race is made for you.

I did the 5.8 mile relay leg of the Cork marathon this morning and really enjoyed it so I'd like to do a 10k run next preferably in Cork or the Munster area. Any recommendations?

Yea, I work until 7:30 on Saturdays unfortunately. I will do my best to get it off though, I'd like to do it.

Here's a list of upcoming Cork races - you ought to find something here. If I was around I'd like to do the Dunmanway 10k on 19th June, a newish race.

I'm involved in organising a charity 10k race in Kilkenny on 9th of July. I want to recommend it to you, but to be fair, there is a pretty significant hill in it. Here's the link to the thread will all the race info: Taxback.com 10k
