    hi there
ok i have a sky dish but no sky tv, got rid of sky for the summer, i have bbc 1 and 2 and itv 1, 2 and 4 and channel five, what i am asking is, is there anyway can i can get free channels like rte 1 and 2 or any other channels on sky by tuning them in for free, or do i have to go out and buy a box, i was in tesco's in clarehall yesterday and seen a sat 4 free from Goodmans, what channels would i get from this or does this work in ireland or are they any good, or can you tell me what exactly i need to go out and buy, and this new thing called saorview, what exactly is it, do i have to go out and buy a sat box, sorry for all the questions, totally dumb when it comes to something like this.
    Thanks

The Irish terrestrial channels are only available via Sky sub on satellite. Aerial required if you don't have a Sky or UPC sub.

    Sat4free
is another name for Freesat, the Irish channels are not available thru it.

Depending on your location you may get the 4 Irish analogue channels with a rabbit-ears aerial and simply tune them in on your TV, otherwise an external aerial will be required.

Some reading for you regarding Saorview

not much point in buying the freesat box - you won't be able to get any more channels than you currently have with the old sky box
