I'd like to know how it would cost me to get a new timing belt for my Kia Sedona,2.9cc, diesel, automatic engine-with 134k km on the clock. It's otherwise in good spec. Can anyone help me please and possibly recommend a good mechanic around north dublin/meath? Thanks.

It's a big engine so it might cost a bit more than a regular timing belt which is 300 odd or a bit less if you get a good independent mechanic.

There's a place in Balbriggan that would be closer to you I guess that always gets good reviews, I'm sure someone here will knwo the one I mean.

I use another indy guy in Fairview - Moore and Farrell motors - and they're an absolute godsend. Always about half the quote from a main dealer.

They are a bit more involved the change then you average car so excpect it to be more expensive. They don't need any special tools to time but access to the belt is a nightmare.

Thanks a lot. I wonder though, can I get the belt myself?

    Why bother?
If the garage supply it they charge you RRP, if you buy it in a factors or a dealer you'll be charged RRP unless they give you trade discount. Order it online and you will save a few quid. If the garage then go to fit it and it's the wrong belt it's your problem not theirs.
