67 borders for peace.

housands of Israelis marched through Tel Aviv on
    Saturday urging Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu to accept a Palestinian state based on
    the 1967 borders.
So far Netanyahu has resisted any withdrawal to
the frontiers that existed before Israel captured
the West Bank in the six- day war, saying it would
be indefensible , but peace campaigners are
    backing the idea.
Adam Keller is the from the Israeli peace group,
    Gush Shalom.
“Israel should recognise the state of Palestine .
Israel should make peace with Palestinians . Israel
should accept the ’67 borders as the basis of
peace. We think the government is leading us to
disaster, Netanyahu is leading us to disaster. ”

The vast majority of the world agrees that 2 states should be created based on the 67 borders. The Israeli Government would prefer more land over peace - hence the ongoing settlements. They have bigger guns - and get to dictate the terms for the moment.

It doesn't matter anyway, because the UN is going to recognise a Palestinian state in September based on the '67 borders.

Thanks heavens this topic has come up.
We haven't discussed it in near two weeks.
Time for a next round of to and fro...

Start whatever thread you like, but I think most people know there is conflict in that area and that people on all sides of it have various opinions on what should happen next, so it's hardly news, is it?

Sadly OP, Zionism doesn't do compromise and it's the zionists who always seem to hold the reigns of power in Israel.

Polishing the head of the pin here, as inevitably the argument will get down to that eventually.

Ahh well I suppose these lads have to pursue their agenda somewhere, and Boards.ie, AH, is a free conduit for this .

probably will take the usual format.

    Poster A posts something ....

    Other posters react....

cavalry led by the usuals appear over the hill

accusation of trolling are bandied about

Attempts will be made to drill down every word to it's very core.

Endless to and fro in ever decreasing circles

Mods get pissed off with yet another ME thread in AH and lock her up.

    Till the next one....................:D

Yeah - those damn Israelis. If you ever wanted to jump on a bandwagon knocking them's a good one to start on.

Another powerful bit of insight there, addressing the issues.

    Do you support the settlements?

But why should the UN view be held in such esteem either way.

It was the Israelis who went to the UN for state recognition, but now they object to the Palestinians doing the same. It's a nice handful of hypocrisy. But at a logical level - it will be recognition across the world at an official level as to what the borders of Palestine are.

    Polishing the head of (............)one....................:D

You are correct. We will reform our ways.

From now on, we will only start threads on approved topics and bowel movements, refuse to explain ourselves, state that all people involved in protests and organisations are unemployed and wasters, and try to make most of our posts derive from one of four pre-written templates.

There's always going to be little hard men posting on internet message boards. Peace might break out and that's a reality everyone might have to deal with. Like it or not. Not taking sides so much here as calling on those interested in equality to read an article. The fact that Isrealis are the ones protesting this time must eat some people up. Sad world TBH.

On vaguely the same theme as the OP
The former head of Israel's spy service has launched an unprecedented attack on the country's current government, describing it as "irresponsible and reckless", and has praised Arab attempts to reach an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.
Meir Dagan stepped down as the head of Mossad six months ago but has gone on the offensive in a series of briefings with journalists and public appearances because he feels that Israel's security is being mismanaged by Binyamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, and Ehud Barak, the defence minister.
One newspaper quotes him as saying that he, as head of Mossad, Yuval Diskin, the head of Sin Bet – the internal security agency, and Gabi Ashkenazi, the head of the army, could prevent Netanyahu and Barak from making mistakes but all three have left their positions and have been replaced by men chosen by the current government.

If its in Israel's interest they will negotiate with Hamas,if not they won't.

They won't do anything just because its the right thing to do.

If the 1967(ish) borders came into being what would happen next?

....Palestinian state would have to organise itself. Israel would have to deal with the settlers.

The Palestinians would have to ask Jordan to hand the West Bank over to them.

Had Nassar not duped Hussein into attacking Israel, Jordan would never had lost the West Bank to Israel.

    No they wouldn't.
Had Nassar not duped Hussein into attacking Israel, Jordan would never had lost the West Bank to Israel.

Had Israel not ethnically cleansed the indigenous population, we wouldn't have any of these problems.

The Palestinians would have to ask Jordan to hand the West Bank over to them..

The Jordanians ceded all claims to the West Bank to the Palestinians in 1988.

Can you not stop posting hysterics for a moment, seriously its below you.

In 1967 the West Bank was Jordanian.

Jordan had not been part of the '67 (or six days war) war, and wanted no part of it.

Nassar duped Hussein into believing that Eqyptian forces had a defeated IDF on the run, and its only then did Jordanian forces enter into the war.

Given the history of ill treatment of Palestinians in Jordan its debatable whether they were better under the Jordians, or the Israeli's.

But in all likelihood the Jordanians are happy enough to be rid of those Palestinians.

That is not hysterical. Israel ethnically cleansed the indigenous population and continues to do so. It is a documented fact.
In 1967 the West Bank was Jordanian.

I'm well aware of the history of the area. You stated that Jordan would have to return the West Bank to the Palestinians. This is not the case - as their borders would be recognised internationally by the UN, of which would include the West Bank.
