Hi to all. I am looking for the best and affordable LNB for Arabsat on 26E.
I was able to pull about 6-7 vertical transponders with TD110 and single smart titanium lnb white with golden connector 0.1DB.Location is Charleville, Co. Cork
I got around 47 channels but I was not able to get any horisontal frequency at all.The receiver was brought from Egypt and seems to have a good tuner compared to Triax box that was only showing 14% signal.
Do I need bigger dish or just a better quality lnb will do?
    Vertical transponders I got:11938V, 12015V, 12092V and few more

I would imagine a larger dish is the way to go, size really does matter.

You should get a lot more channels than that. Ive a 1.1m Gilbertini in mayo with a smart titanium .2 twin lnb and i get nearly 200 channels, even mbc channels hold on most of the time in most weather.

I would say your lnb may either need to be skewed like the lnb is on a astra 2 dish or dish needs tweaking.

Have you tried a different receiver?

I've done my best with professional sat finder and skewing the lnb but I wasn't able to get more than 47 channels. There is a lot of interference from 23.5E and 28.2E.I was thinking of slim lnb the likes of alps might do me. Am I too far south.
Is there anyone in Mallow, Cork area to advise on Arabsat reception. The same dish in Limerick gets all 200 channels receivable with the same receiver. I'm only 40km away.I'm not sure what lnb is used because the dish is high up and the owner doesn't know much about lnb's

a kink or some problem with the cable? I dont know why you are getting interfearence from 23 and 28 east?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,854 ✭✭✭Apogee

@bombibom - It's got nothing to do with your location - the further south, the stronger the signal. A slimline LNBF will be no better, and is more likely to be actually worse, than a standard one.

Is the dish fixed or motorised?

I tweaked my 1.1m motorised to be strong on 26 east. Ive found since doing that i lost a little signal on other sats, but then they are very strong anyway so all the crompomise!

Although I am more south than OP I have the TD 110 dedicated for Arabsat.

I have had great success with the Inverto Black Ultra High-Gain Single LNB:)

Thanks for all the advise. I'm going to have to go back on the ladder and try to lock some of the horisontal transponders. The reason I sad that I'm getting interference from 23.5E is that i can get some of the channels on that sat as well as some of the BADR channels.I think I have to move the dish towards 28.2E a bit. This 26E is a bit of a headache for the moment.

That looks very good and affordable as well but is it better than smart 0.1db that I have at the moment?

The dish alignment is wrong if you're getting channels from 23.5E on a 1.1M dish which is supposed to be pointing at 26E.

Cant go wrong with the Inverto Black Ultra High-Gain Single LNB..

Skewed correctly you should improve it!

All depends on the tuner on your reciever too..

For example, my spiderbox has a much better tuner than my dremabox..

I can watch some channels on 16east on my Spiderbox without compromise, where as I can't even tune them in with my Dreambox!

I ordered Inverto Black Ultra High-Gain Single LNB and just have to sit and wait until it comes in the post.Forgot to mention that it is a fixed dish setup with prime lnb at Badr and secon lnb at hotbird. Thanks again to all of you for the quick replays. I'll let you know how do I get on. I have a dreambox 500+ to try on yet.

Finally got the inverto lnb today. I am very pleased with it probably the best lnb I played with. Manage to pull 147 channels from 26E compare to 47 with the smart titanium lnb. Thanks for the great advise. I think I'm going to order another one just to have it as a back up.

    Delighted for you:)

Lovely to get a poster with a result.

    Enjoy your MBC's etc:)

    Hi,

Maybe slightly off thread but would appreciate it if someone could tell me which sat I should be pointing at to receive channels such as MBC1, 2, MBC Action, MBC Persia, Dubai 1, Al-Jazeera 1 - 10 etc etc, (all the channels that would be received through Nilesat if living in Egypt for example).

Im unsure whether I need to be pointing at Arabsat or Badr 4 or Badr 6.

Im living in Dublin and have a Triax dish.

    Regards

    Iba

They're on Badr 4. However, Badr 4, Badr 6 and Badr 5 satellites are all co-located in the same orbital slot, so they appear to be the one satellite to your dish - albeit Badr 6 signals are weak/non-existent over Ireland.

    Thanks Apogee

And Badr 4 is at 26E?

Thanks Apogee and sorry about this.

Its just the OP confused me when he said Arabsat was on 26E and then Snaps posts a Screen Shot of MBC Action and it is unclear to me if Snaps is using Badr or Arabsat.

    Thanks for your help

The group of satellites located at 26E used to be called Arabsat. I'm still inclined to call the sats at 26E Arabsat too - old habits die hard.

oh thank u so so much - I was going to ask is Badr 4 the same as Arabsat, but thought my question would be too stupid - thanks very much for clearing this up for me.

New qustion: is it possible to receive Hotbird 13E, Badr (aka Arabsat) 26E and Astra 28.2E if I attach a 4 Lnb Triax Rail (http://www.sat-planet.ie/freeview_tv/satellite_lnb_holder/lnb_holder_triax) to my Dish?

You would need to centre on 26e, and spacing for 28.2e would be (probably) too close physically, due closeness of lnbs, but 13e should be possible if you have the TD110.
Thats if you use the BSS beam on Badr 4.
The FSS and MBC beams would need a huge dish.
    edit
Looking at the footprints a 1.2m dish would probably be required, so the Triax rail won't fit anyway

    Plan B:

Can anyone recommend a Diseqc for my Triax 1.1m which will enable me to pick up the three sats that I would like?

1.1m for MBC channels is more than ok.

    Thanks Snaps,

My Dish is actually lined up for MBC at the moment. What I wanted to do is put in a rail and pick up Hotbird 13 and Astra 28.2 - so i would have 3 sats - but previous posters have told me that its not possible and all i could get on the same rail is Hotbird and Astra. So now I want to get a Diseqc Motor to switch between the sats and was looking for a recommendation for which motor.

    Regards

Any diseqc motor will do the job. I have an SG2100 and that does the job fine too!
